Opened a bottle of Red Saturday night, after having a few beers in the arvo with a couple of mates.

Threw a steak on the BBQ. Mrs C and Miss C are over in SA, so I’m batching for a while.

Thought to myself as I sipped away, gee that’s a nice drop! Drank about 2/3 of the bottle, leaving the rest for another day.

Knocked the remainder off last night with dinner. Just tidying up the house now, so took the empty bottles out, including this particular bottle of Red.

I drank the wrong bottle. It was a 2012 Wynns Cab Sav, which I had earmarked for Easter Sunday with a rack of lamb. So the 2022 Vintage that I intended to have, a slurper as I call them survived.

A trip to Dans now to find a suitable replacement bottle for Sunday!
I am trying to understand the downside C Man :-?

Here's one for you
Mrs Jimmy doesn't drink red
I once told her your should cook with the same red you drink - not cheap $hit
I came home one night - spaghetti bolognaise with Hill of Grace

The downside albeit small is I consumed a bottle alone, that was intended to be shared. I’ve replaced it already.

I’ve got a mate who’s, let’s say “frugal”…
Go to his place for dinner, always nice wine (we always take some too). But as it gets later on in the night & he starts getting a bit Schindlers, the frugal is replaced with ego. Out comes the real good stuff, last time there were a couple of bottles of 2010 Basket Press (roughly $400 each). His wife thinks it’s hilarious, she said he was filthy with himself the next morning

Oh, @Corona Man, I haven’t forgotten the 2 bottles I still owe you from previous footy wagers…

Reading Jase's news of his Mum's passing reminded me of how my Dad has coped in the last 18 months since losing my Mum.

He has been awesome, at 84 I thought he might fall in a hole, but he has been so positive to get on with life and make the most of his time left. Playing bowls twice a week, going to see the Crows, Rotary meetings etc has kept him very active which is the key. Even booked a 28 day cruise around Australia in September which some friends, he will be the only one there without a Partner but he said why not!

What makes me laugh though?

The things he has done over the last 18 months that Mum wouldn't let him do, we never knew, until now, how much of a hold she had over him.

e.g. A TV now resides in his bedroom, numerous lollies/chocolates now appear in the pantry and fridge

Every now and then you read something on here in the morning that brings a smile to your face and makes you appreciate the small things in life, the highlighted line is just that for so many reasons, good on him for letting his hair down and good on him for respecting your mum's thoughts for so long.
