Take off your SANFL blinkers and have a look.
Stats don't lie
Is it a measure to even up the comp? Have the umps been instructed to not give the 50/50 ones to ravens? Dont know?

Not doubting their advantages. Just interesting that umpiring is arguably a way to even things up?????Bag & Sledge wrote:Firstly, if he wants to bring up 'unfair treatment' then lets start with some comparisons..another grub wrote:Ravens' Worrell claims the umpires adjudicate the AFL listed players differently.
I remember thinking this several times last Sunday. They were clearly shafted and I believe the umpires have been instructed to make life 'difficult' for them.
Fire away with your thoughts?
AFL Reserves Full time professional footballers v SANFL part time semi-professional footballers?
AFL reserves teams have more money
AFL reserves teams have better facilities
AFL reserves teams have a lot more resources
Who is being treated unfairly again?
This is almost the last straw, it's time for the AFL Reserves teams to leave the SANFL.
They are not improving the competition, they have absolutely no supporter base and thats evident when just 2,000 people attended the Norwood v Adelaide Qualifying Final last week.
Lastly, if this was in the AFL would Worrell and Hayes cop a fine for their comments?

I highly doubt that the SANFL is issuing special instructions to umpires for the cancers. That would require the SANFL hierarchy actually to give a toss about the competition.

If he's so worried about the taunts, maybe he should get his club's 4000 people to turn up to even things out.

Re: Worrell - AFL listed player umpire discrimination
The idiocy of this is inferring crowd behaviour has to be manufactured in a way that allows the umpires to adjudicate more fairly. Give me a F***ing spell, how about the umpiring department enforce standards upon the decision makers rather than try to address crowd pressure which has existed for 100+ years?

Didn't Tex complain about the Ravens getting a spray from the crowd at Prospect in the early years of the occupation?gadj1976 wrote:If he's so worried about the taunts, maybe he should get his club's 4000 people to turn up to even things out.
If Beryl and Mavis were ever going to rock up to support the Ravens, it would've been back then.

Who are the Ravens that people keep talking about. I dont see a team call the ravens in the SANFL. Unlike Port the crows know who they are.

Haven't noticed it before but I did think the crows got a really bad run with the umps on Sunday. That happens though with all teams, sometimes good sometimes bad, I'd highly doubt it's on purpose.

Re: Worrell - AFL listed player umpire discrimination
I think that a goodly percentage of the free kick disparity comes from the OOB last possession. They play wider than all other teams. I also feel that their "top up players" get caught with the ball a lot more. Comes down to poor coaching.
They should however not accept it and play in the VFL which naturally includes teams from Queensland and New South Wales which gives it an AFL reserves type of feel.

Re: Worrell - AFL listed player umpire discrimination
Free kick count in the 2019 GF was Bays 31 Port 20
Free kick count in the 2019 Prelim was Bays 24 Adel 18...
Based on what I quoted and the article re Worrell were Crows were -480 odd frees in their first six years (-80 a year) and Port -380 (-60 a year), they've both improved markedly in the last three years to by -17 and -58...
They should be thankful!!
If only their AFL sides could improve that much!!

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Re: Worrell - AFL listed player umpire discrimination
How many of those frees are for the last touch rule?
The AFL sides still don’t understand the rule and often look bewildered when they concede a free from it.
