1st Semi Final - Power Reserves v Centrals
Looking forward to this game - Doggies the form team of the competition (outside the Minor Premiers).
Power Reserves struggled last week without their 'trump card' in Butcher.
Will 'Eric' make an appearance on the Hill?
Certainly one would expect more people in the crowd for this game than will be left for the 'late' game.
Doggies to win by 4 goals.

Will be a tough ask. Not sure the ins make them much stronger or not though. I think if the dogs can go in hard and make it about the tougher team then they're a chance. The fitter, faster and more skilful team will be in black and white. Summerton, IMHO, will always be a key to the Magpies. Shut him down or make him accountable and we'll be a step closer.
Not too fussed about Butcher and Amon coming in. Neither in brilliant touch in the AFL side. Would have been a different story if Sam Gray somehow got a run.

Re: 1st Semi Final - Power Reserves v Centrals
Have Amon and Butcher satisfied the actual rule or was a permit required? Has there been confirmation on Sam Gray (I had it on reasonable authority Port we're going to apply for him to get a permit but nothing on SANFL website)

Would be very embarassing if this was firstly asked for and secondly green lit. I just don't see the benefit for Port or the need for the SANFL to allow. This is the SANFL not the amateur leagues. You either qualify or you don't.

Sam Gray is not permitted to play.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.
If you want to go far, go together.

Come on Centrals. Dump the reserves out and we can all rest easy that a sovereign SANFL club will take the flag again this year.

Both have played far more SANFL than AFL but they shouldn't be able to play as they finished the season in the AFL

Butcher surely is more of a liability than Amon? Probably cancel each other out in what they bring to the table

I was more confident when the original forecast was 18°C and showers.
Both games between the teams this year have been pretty close. We just need to keep up our pressure and tackling. Port have a bigger team than Norwood so I wonder if Dallas will come in? Not sure who we would drop though?

Port did indeed seek permission for Gray to play because, according to them, it was in his best interests of his football development.
SANFL denied request.
It's taken a long time but the League has finally got something right.

Yes the SANFL have. I would have preferred Port make the argument that they want the best team to win the cup, but player development. Its not the under 18's or the reserves.... oh yeah that's right.

Re: 1st Semi Final - Power Reserves v Centrals
Hence the change to the rule this year, so it now says that you not only have to play more SANFL than AFL across the year, you have to play at least 3 SANFL after 30 June. Butcher has played most of the year in the SANFL (because he's not very good; he'd be a regular risk of getting dropped to the reserves at most other SANFL league clubs), and most of Amon's SANFL has been in the 2nd half of the season. The existing rule could maybe be tweaked a bit, but if (like this year) the Pahhhhhr reserves were coming up to finals, and the Pahhhhhhr firsts dead in the comp, a 'you must finish the season in the SANFL' rule would just encourage dodginess.Brodlach wrote:SANFLnut wrote:Have Amon and Butcher satisfied the actual rule or was a permit required? By virtue of not having played AFL last week, Kane Mitchell has qualified to keep on going and play the rest of the SANFL season. Which might end this weekend of course.

I really don't mind who wins it but go you Dogs. At least it won't be Norwood again
I say no to drugs, but they don’t listen.
