Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
I would love to go back to the 80s and have 3 state leagues and 40,000 people supporting the local teams but it not going to happen as money control sports these days.
Not having a go at you mate, but I hate it when AFL apologists trot out lines thinking SANFL fans believe the glory days can be ...

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
i dont think it can go back to the previous system where the players were spread throughout the sanfl clubs, and i dont want it to go back to that, it was a crap system (but still better than it is now)

Parkinson can GAGF!
Fair go Jim, this winter sport of ours has never been played in rain or cold until this year .. Is Jake Parkinson new to the country or something?

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
Checking the scores is one thing, but actually attending SANFL games to see how Crows players performed is another. I can't see how checking score updates pre or post the inclusion of AFL reserves teams influences or explains the trend of less people putting their arses on an SANFL seat.
I meant ...

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
Agree with much of what you've both said. But I don't think any attention to any cause is good attention, but people have the right to do as they see fit. Would never deny people the right to do so either.
I'm not sure what if any approach to this will work though. Unfortunately.

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
But if we are to have a viable competition going forward, it has to be a competition that is relevant to this town in 2016 and beyond.
Pure unadulterated bulldust.
If the competition is to be viable then it must be relevant to its core support base: the SANFL fan.

Bullsh!t. It was talked about long before he coached the crows.

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
Roy Laird bit fined by the SANFL. Out of tune wankers, they should be rewarding him for speaking the truth and trying to open their eyes to something that is wrong! Let's find out how much the fine was and start a crowd funding campaign for Roy.

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
JTC. To add to your point, what does Port actually give back to the SANFL. They pay no fees to SANFL clubs, play matches at Alberton, discourage their supporters from travelling to away games ala the South game at Noarlunga. At least the old Magpies added to player development.
That just ...

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
The crows have said they don't want to fork out $500k to play in a AFL reserves comp
But they shell out 400k to play in the SANFL each year?
Easy fix: ramp up the price to 1m, and charge the same to the smears. They don't pay, We don't play.
Watch them both trip over each other as they race ...

I think he should seriously consider getting involved at SANFL headquarters once he decides to step away from coaching.
He would make a great SANFL President.
LOL, no chance the private school boys clubs would allow that, Roy doesn't wear the right tie!

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
The AFL in SA is going to have a real issue to get back to where it was after we return to normal business and citizen conditions. Besides the crows grand final year, attendance has declined each year since the 2014 Adelaide Oval development. Power similar, although crowds tanked in 2016 but ...

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread
you lot are a little strange...
For how many years you are pushing Port and Crows out of the SANFL
As soon as it looks like happening..."how will they afford it?" "SANFL have a binding contract for $400k per year" etc etc
which one do you want?
Both!!!!! We dont want them to get out of paying ...

Re: Round 7 - Port Magpies v South @ Alberton inc Post Matc
Was disappointed that South did not get near it against Port yesterday, perhaps if Port had a group of injuries as the Crows have it might have been a more even contest, yet with the bulk of the team being professional AFL players and the rest being the SANFL Magpies players that the club wanted to ...

Re: Round 7 - Glenelg v Central @ Gliderol inc Post Match
Crowds started suffering IMO when I noticed a large drop off in the younger supporters while we were still dominating. Coincided with the pressure being placed on the club to clear out those wascally webels. In reality the problem was there in most other clubs, not just ours, and it was merely a ...

Re: Well played North supporters
From what a heard today on the radio between 5AA/Triple M from Rowey, Roo, Ditts, Jarman, Mcdermott, Lewis and others it just made me think what media puppets these guys have become. Obviously they have a job to do by promoting and "talking up"the AFL - it is what they are paid to do but I am sure ...
