Zoning, kicking backwards, flooding etc. I went to a game a couple of weeks ago and it was dead set boring,
If we regress much further how long will it be before we have our first nil all draw?
Been saying that for a long time KWF & Sonya, and will add that I prefer to watch SANFL. This is mainly due to the destruction of the game (I prefer) with the rule changes affecting the spectacle and the overwhelming presence umpires inflict on us in AFL.
I change my mind when I see a side like St Kilda or Geelong (on most occasions) opt for only 1 or 2 quick handballs and then kick long to a leading player upfield. The continued insistence by players (coaches instructions ?) to have 8,10, a dozen handballs in an area the size of a mini minor, most of those to flat footed teammates who are often enough in a worse situation pressure wise than the deliverer of the handball, is stupidity and plain bad football and causes uncertainty. FFS how would you like to be a CHF or FF not knowing when your teammate downfield is going to kick it - frustrated I would have thought.
Have heard from many a footy follower that the only rule they want brought in is the call of "playon" if a kick is backwards (in defensive half only) Most (not all) of the new rules are crap.
