IMHO you can only support one team in your life. You can't swap and change like bubblegum cards. It's like people that follow the Cows / Smears as well as their ORIGINAL club...it's just not on, but I admit very South Australian

You have supported the Panthers for many years, and I think you should stay with them. When your team are in the doldrums, you have to give them more support. The wheel will turn.

Just to expand on this topic a little....
Did anyone find it hard to jump off their original VFL side they followed to go for the Crows or Port.
I was never interested in either and stuck with Carlton. Saw it as breaking my loyalty to them if I changed for the sake of parochialism.
Always follow SA in state games though so that covers my loyalty to the state and also would always choose Sturt over Carlton i it really came down to it.
Might start a thread on the AFL board.
Btw, stik with the Panthers Chuck. Never saw a Sturt flag in my life until 02. Was worth the wait mate.

Nup Cats before the Crows and Cats ever since, was never going to change, perhaps that's a good point to give to any disenchanted South fans as I'd never seen a Cats premiership in my life until we beat Port by 119 points, nothing was sweeter! :D

Why would you want to swap? Take the good with the bad (albeit it may outweigh the good).

I love south and it wouldn't feel right supporting another club just because they're winning. Where's the fun in that?

The day I see us win a flag will rate as one of the best in my life. Even if it means waiting another 10/20/50/etc years.

Go South!

Opting for another team will just eat at you over time and will never truly feel like "home".

Following your footy team is like a successful marriage, "for better or worse, in sickness and in health" - Divorce is messy mate.

What he said

Following any other team would just be a substitute. Like a nicotiine patch. it stops the craving but it's not like the real thing. ;)

I used to be a Norwood supporter in the late 80s, early 90's cos at the time the Co-Op Building Society had a savings account where the percentage rate (forget how) was set by the SANFL team you support...when my Dad opened the account, Norwood were paying the highest percentage!!!

But living in the "Northern Suburbs" I eventually changed to Centrals...I still got my 1998 and 1999 season tickets with most of the games punched out...if anyone calls me a bandwagoner cos I support Centrals, I mention the two season tickets...I've got a "Get Outta Jail Free" card for life!!! :D ...

You hit the nail on the head... I was 24 years old when Sturt won their first premiership in my lifetime. Up to that point it was the greatest day of my life (birth of my son has slightly edged in front now). Hang in there Panther supporters. The taste of ultimate victory is so much sweeter when you've had to go through long lasting, tough times. It would have been easy to switch from the Double Blues in the first half of the nineties. I never dreamt that within 10 years of a winless season we would have played in two grandfinals let alone have a flag...

Stick with South although it may take a while. I went to my first doggies game in about 1968 and although I haven't got to a many games as maybe I should have, have never though about changing teams. I think it was 13 consecutive finals losses and that line "how many flags have you won?" It was fantastic when they finally broke through and we've been giving people grief ever since.

In the 80's I worked with two people who jumped ship to barrack for the bays. I'd love to run into them now.

Choose a team that you think is going to do really well in the near future, otherwise you'll just have to change teams again.
