In saying that Owen is a top lad, quality young player and to bad mouth him on a public forum cuzzy does not bode well for you or the club. I know i wouldnt return anywhere if i decided to leave a club and copped that much grief for doing it, its not like hes headed down the road, hes interstate!!!
Clear Lovey and move on!

I have heard rumours of this wedding. I'm with you Kappars. Too long have the Hirst brothers disgraced the GSFL. Younger brother Leigh is an improvement on Dustin, although that doesnt say much. We can only hope with his pussy-whipping departure that Max McCardle comes back into the fold. That youngster is an absolute delight to watch.

I don't think you have been around long enough D&W. I remember the days of Dustin Hurst holding up the back lines and doing very well on proven opposition and last year was always a solid performer but has made his way down forward and will look to settle into a key role in 09.
The wedding tomorrow should be a great day for us lads to all have a few beers and talk rubbish, nothing from the type of standard day really just in stead of all typing it on a forum we will be able to speak face to face.

The problem I have is with the consensus that a "country" footy contract means "nothing". That is rubbish, it is a legally binding document and should be treated with repect. Understandably at this level people's committments change so mutual departures will certainly will occur. The question is has Owen moved to Sydney purely for football or other reasons? I feel for the hard working locals that prop country clubs up week in week out to give the community something to do and a sense of ownership only to see players who get payed well bail when its convinient. It might take a club like E Bay to drag this out to set an example that clubs cant be walked all over.
And good luck to Hirsty on the weekend, it will an emotional day for 2 reasons. 1. weddings bring a tear to the eye and 2. I have the feeling that you and I will no longer be contining our stellar 10 year footy trip association. Keep an eye out for the MC at the wedding. heard is a gun.

haha they making it hard for you bass
It cant be too hard the guy has moved interstate, a contract is worthless in country footy.

Not if he has taken Cash Up front for services. (Which has happened in this case i believe). That then makes him unfinancial,
and he or the New club would have to re-pay his debt make him Finacial before he will be cleared!

I believe Bassani has nothing to do with the ins and outs of coaching anymore and merely is a bum on a seat according to my source at McLaren Vale...
I now also am aware that all three lads in the 2 loves and sumner are related and moved to Sydney for the offer of full-time work and in return need to play footy.
Knowing that last seasons runner-up mail medalist is financial - can I ask, does the refusal simply mean your club would prefer he return to SA and play for five months earning whatever it is your paying him instead of him finding meaningful employment?
Your clubs seems to expect a lot while giving very little at times...
WHy wouldn't you take this as an opoportunity to use the money you had for the Owne to pay locals incentives and get them to actually train - oh thata's right - you dont need anyone else training - you already have 32 on a bad night and are in line to take the mantle from Willunga.
Gee wizz, what happens if the lads get homesick and return to SA - not sure they'd openly play for you now.
Cuzzy, are you on your clubs board and possibly a former player turned spectator? PM me the answer if you like.
