How are strath looking in 09? I'm an ex Rooster and found it to be an excellent club. Really good set up and great lads. Be good to see them do well

Must be a lot of posters on holidays already! I was relying on the forum to get me through my last few days at work, shattered there is no talk, merry xmas to all, bring on '09, another exciting season on the cards, lets hope we see a new premier (unless it's Strath). Time to eat, drink and party myself silly :partyman: :supz: \:D/  :goodman: :vom:

Yeah, it is a bit quiet, and not much on the site, although there is more rumours than fact that is being posted.

No Jelom, ( must have been committed again) no cuzzy at his beligerant best (and I mean that in the nicest possible manner cuz)
BJ is at best a politician and maybe with an eye on coaching so will not offend anyone.
Most clubs are keeping things close to the chest, however things will start hotting up post Christmas

Strath have been around the mark for years and a very respected club. Last year they were the only challenger to Willunga and with Simmons as coach look an angrier unit. Will be around the place in 09, no doubt.
LF, you are right if it is true about Feast. 4 points wasted for not even half a season and what happens come finals?????

im not allowed to quote your name mate but as i said on another thread you were the same bloke all for the merger and once it took place headed down the hill to willunga maybe you should have put in a bit yourself as sour grapes is not good when you had F All interest,if it did have the support of 2 towns there would have not been an issue for them to return to the magpies,(so go watch the Simpsons or somthin like that)

mate i was playing u17's when the clubs merged so i had no say in the matter the only thing i had to say was that im wasnt playing with the ferels of goolwa, so i went to the sfl and found that i enjoyed playing in the gsfl better so the closest club to me was the mighty dee's , Goolwa had no intrest of having support from elliot in the first place but we all know without elliot there wouldnt be a goolwa footy club ether, it had the support of two towns but the club is run by ppl that only see black and white that didnt want anything to do with elliot and sopncers are not gonna get back on board if the club doesnt reconize them.

You clearly have no idea about the issues that surrounded both clubs at the time Macamanis. I was also a senior colt when the merge took place however I still attended the GFC AGM and the Merger discussions and vote. I was unable to vote but still aired my opinion.
Yes the club was and is run by people that "saw" black and white. We, the GPEFC had no other option as we had minimal support from members.
Although I no longer live in SA I am still an keen supporter of the GPEFC Magpies. This might be trivial but it may clear a few things up for Macamanis.

Only the clubs with gd numbers like Langhorne creek, willunga and strath could get away with something like this because they have the depth and plenty of locals. bottom teams would struggle but if he is gd enough to be involved in 7 or 8 wins i reckon it would be gd enough to make finals if they could also win a few without him. Only a few gd ruckmen in the competition so im sure he would dominate.
LuvsFooty wrote:Yeah fair call Mr Percival, but no success in the last 5 years means we are not alone. 9 other clubs in the same boat and the money we have spent in the last 10 years wouldn't average out to be much more or less than anyone else. Is it fair to say that Feast might be a risk, being a 4 point player thats only available for 8 games? You either drop a 'points' player when he plays or you play ten games not utilisng maximum points. Interesting scenario

Mcmanis, you are getting carried away so close to Christmas about an issue that is not even relevant. If you were playing U17's for Port Elliot at the time of the merger I am tipping that you have had absolutely 'no' impact at Willunga, because there was very little talent in that side. In fact we finished 2nd to bottom and flogged you by 15 goals. Initially Kevin Whealan (as he stated at the 08 AGM), was the only Port Elliot official to show interest in the club. Now that we have had another change, the Port Elliot people need to show more committment as Goolwa has preserved their history by including the name in the club title. The current committee also needs to spend more time promoting the club in Port Elliot. It's an old issue, no more discussion, case closed!!!

On a lighter note Simon Feast was not cheap!

Macamanis will be donning the myponga jumper next season in a bid to prop up the mudlarks. Best of luck to him at the muddies.

Feast to Goolwa LF or to the Creeks? Of course he wouldnt be cheap. SANFL players especially as good as Simon Feast was are going to attract plenty of interest. Great for the competition if these ex-SANFL players come and play!!!!

Creeks, he is involved in wine labels so has some contacts out that way. He will be handy with Moore and Sherwood. Why is Mcmanis leaving Willunga? That decision is mind boggling!
