Grade Cricket 2008/09

Post by heater31 »

First week on Grade cricket starts this weekend and I think its time to begin a new thread.

I know that there are a few of us on here who are involved in one way or another with the Grade setup.

Week one fixtures (A Grade Sat/Sun, others Sat only)

Code: Select all

Tea Tree Gully     v     Prospect
Sturt    v    Adelaide
West Torrens    v    University
Southern District    v    East Torrens
Glenelg    v    Port Adelaide
Northern Districts    v    Woodville

My tips are

TTG
Adel (I'm biased)
WT
ET
Bays
Wod

For those that don't make the A grade thank god that its only a OD first up. I bowled 6 overs on Saturday morning just gone on a full run and can barely walk

Sadly, no. SACA has denied any thought of Vaughan coming here.

TTG would like to thank SACA for not allowing us the bye round 1. Ben Pahl the ex A grade opening bowler is getting married and half of the A grade side is involved in the weeding with the majority of the A & B grade invited guests. Apprently we were aware of this last season and asked SACA to consider it when programming and obviously they dont care if our best team gets on the pitch and is competative.

Why should the SACA bow to such requests. If they did then Every Tom Dick and Harry would be asking when and where to play and turn into a right circus.

Why was he so stupid in agreeing to have his wedding on such a date when he has for years began cricket season on the long weekend? Having played a few games of Footy with Benny a couple of years ago why couldn't he have it then as he only played in what felt like every 2nd week.

Still think that you should be able to get the points over the Pirates hopefully

Perhaps the bye should be given to the Jets in round one due to Central playing in the GF regularly?

you can never please everyone with a wedding for what ever reasons be it venues or attendances, but surely saca can allow a team the bye, when a request has been made 8 months in advance as i am aware it was. my mail has adelaide requesting the timing of there bye this season, of which it has been granted.

exactly TS.... Ben is no longer playing cricket and due to other reasons he set the date for the long weekend. Surely with the standard of South Australian Cricket being so poor they would want the best cricketers possible on the park..... And yes i believe Adelaide got there request for the bye upheld because it had to do with sponsorship so the dollar rules over cricket
