Did the members of the Roost get their knives back from Jarman?

Not sure, have the Eagles fans got their knives back from their premiership coach or are they still trying to land the blow? At least Fuller has the term "premiership coach" next to his name. P1ss of and spend the summer figuring out whether you follow Woodville or West Torrens then try to merge your spilt personalities whilst supporters of real clubs get on with things.

North, like all clubs should be always assessing whether any individual is the best for the job. You don't want people being sacked all the time, but once someone is not the best available for the job the club in this case should act quickly to get that right person involved. The dogs had Clarkson, but decided he wasn't the best for the club. Clarkson won a flag and lost a GF in his 2 seasons at the helm, a record Jarman doesn't compare to. Clarkson was moved on and the club got bigger and better. And when the time comes that Grant, Laird or anyone at the CDFC is no longer the best for their job I'd hope that the decision is made quickly and with as little disruption as possible. If it's time to part ways, then the NAFC needs to make that decision in the best interests of the club. However, if Jarman is the right person for the job the NAFC should sign him ASAP and the supporters should get behind him. Blind faith led to the crusades and the third reich. Nobody is above being questioned, nobody is always right and nobody deserves a job for life.

I agree, very strong words and well written. Pitty about your analogy to the crusades and 3rd reich. They were both waxed in the end.

A few things worked against ANJ this year:

. 2008 result :(
. quote in the paper about being drained and questioning his own passion (though I think this is one thing he did really have - passion)
. TV comments about the crows and power coaching (albeit he was just earning a living) combined with his own results :?
. lots of talk about disquiet within the club (talk had to have come from somewhere and as a board they must think that where there is smoke, fire is likely)

I do wish the media would not sensationalise though. ANJ’s contract was complete, so surely a non-extension does not imply a sacking. Could it have been done better, say at a press conference, I think so considering the vultures gathered at prospect, and it would have been a dignified meeting of the minds between the board and ANJ, which he clearly deserved.

As for Darren J, I think it is +80% certain he will not stay. I recall how he was p*$$#@ at ANJ’s crows’ sacking because the only reason he came to the crows was to play footy with his brother, and I think he may have had much better $$$$ offers, ala Sydney.

Well informed comment here....ANJ season review and plans for the future were...for 200k package Darren and I will continue to coach the club. I believe a lot of North folk and heirachy were a bit disappointed they flogged Westies as the win may have freshened their desire to continue at North. As for being involved with Freo or any AFL club he has as much chance as Noel Teasdale.

Without really knowing the full story and looking at the situation on face value, it seems a pretty tough call on Jars. Did a hell of a lot for the club. Went downhill when they start signing soft, money chasers like Archard

Hard to believe that he "didnt have the passion". What a cop out..

Lol, if you're going to single out recruits that have caused the club to go downhill you might want to pick one that hasn't performed well throughout 2008.

Non-extension = sacked. ANJ is not leaving of his own volition; he was dismissed by the club.

To paraphrase Shakespeare: That which we call a turd by any other name would smell as rotten.

I'm not criticising the Roosters or ANJ. Merely pointing out that sugar-coating reality does not change its essence.

Yeah, it was just a bit tongue in cheek. Archard is a quality footballer.

As a South supporter, I shouldnt be commenting on signing blokes who are chasing coin

Ironic that those 2 are coaching sides in the finals at the moment.

Trevor Hill runner up to Jars in that one. Will Jars find his way back to Norwood in the future?

all you so called North supporters who bagged jars at every corner i hope your happy. lets hope the board has made the correct decision and the club doesnt fall back to that big black hole they were in before jars was appointed. well done to all those who sunk the boots yet patted him on the back when things were going well.

What about reviewing a couple of other positions in the Club. I feel sure ANJ should not be the only 'scapegoat', after all, there are other goats running around in the halls of power at Prospect
