Yes, it's an interesting one isn't it? When Norwood appointed Neil Balme ahead of Nunan in 1980, it appeared to all and sundry that Norwood had made the correct decision, expecially in the light of Balme winning 2 flags and making 3 Grand Finals in his first 5 years at Norwood.
However, restropect is a wonderful thing, and looking back I've often wondered how Norwood would have gone with Michael Nunan in charge. The way he set up at North would have been IMHO ideal for what Norwood were trying to achieve at that time, and maybe Nunan would have brought the Redlegs more flags over the next 10 years than 2, given the talent available to him in that period. In a sense, many Norwood supporters feel that Balme actually underachieved at Norwood.
Still .. it's all theory, and we'll never know.
