i would say that he would be on thin ice theres alot of people at North say that we will never win a flag under jars because all the players are down hill skierspurch wrote:What a fantastic, clinical display of football by Sturt against South...errmmm I mean North today. Played in front, first to the ball, harder at the man with excellent chasing and tackling, won the ball in close, destroyed their opponents in the air, and most importantly, on the scoreboard.
North were on top for the first 4 minutes of the match I thought. They also dug a little deeper for the first 4 mins of the 2nd half and forced a plethora of stoppages, but apart from that they were smashed.
Take a bow Coad & Chambers...7 goals each. Coad in particular was just grabbing everything...and just when we thought we'd seen it all up pops Chambo with a pack mark 5 deep, surrounded by red and white. Other highlights included Coad's 3 rip snorter goalsquare marks, Feast's running goal, the 2 or 3 checkside goals (Chambers and ?), Whiteman's footy smarts on couple of occasions, and Papa's constant niggling of Allan. Magnificent! Others that were good were Gum (2 goals and a target all day at CHF), Sheedy, Feast, Whiteman, Wicks, McLeay, Thomson (mainly early on), Evans, Crane, McGlone and Fittock. Sharples was also typically "flashy" in patches early in the game. I must say Damon White looked completely buggered by 3/4 time. Is he really an AFL footballer?? Head down in the last quarter, he looked like a bloke contemplating retirement!![]()
That was clearly the most polished display by Sturt so far in 2008. That said, I'm sure North supporters would agree that their team's effort was very very poor if not pathetic/insipid, so the win has to be seen in context.
Fantastic crowd too and what a perfect day day for footy! Now cows or puffs in action..must have been 4k+ there. I hear they got a similarly good turn out at the Bay. Quite a lot of red and white in the crowd but not a heap of noise to say the least. It was quite eerie at times.
I haven't visited the roost yet, but biy I can only imagine the back stabbing and sniping. Surely Jarman is now on thin ice...or is that inappropriate?![]()

I know SANFL contracts can be broken when theres a possibility of a coach going to the AFL, but i would have thought Rick would be the type of guy to honor a contract (that is assuming that i'm right and he's got an extra year to go)..

I was amazed it was 4329, I guessed high 3000s.
I can only go by crowds when they say it is around 5 k eg Centrals at the start of the year and it was very close to that. Not a biased comment surely , when there were not many North supporters around me ??? The facts are that there were not many around me

Rick did sign a contract extension and as you say is not the type of bloke to cut and run. I think it would be very doubtful that he would go. He never played at that level and has business interests here in Adelaide
