Why would you let your kid drive your Ferrari - unless you had both well insured!?

Because you'd be a selfish turd to deny such a thrill to your kids.

I'd hand over the keys to my kids to whatever car I owned (so long as it didn't send me the way of the bus stop), just as my old man did with me.

Which to him, was a Rolls!

My old man loved his commodore, still went into hock for a few years over it and that means more than some w@nkers Ferrari that didn't even dent the bank balance.

Unless of course you valued your kids and wanted them to live through adolescence, in which case you would buy them an old Volvo to use until they grew up and developed good judgement, as a friend of mine in Adelaide did for his 4 kids!

Mind you he then came to grief on his BMW 1000cc road/trail bike.

I had just typed a fairly lengthy reply and moderated myself before hitting 'submit'.

You frustrate the crap out of me.

Yes, it is difficult coming to terms with the idea of there being groups of people out there who have different value systems - most people just want them to go away, so they can just stick with people who share their own views.

No, the inference that I don't value my kids is insulting in the extreme.

Best this thread gets back on to things that make us laugh.

I did not mean to imply you didn't value your kids, only that perhaps you hadn't thought through the risk I was talking about, before making your earlier comment quoted at top.

My earlier comment was about the fact that the inexperienced kid driving Dad's Ferrari could have been pulped, and that any immature kid in a high powered car is at serious risk of death. I have a step-daughter who drove a lower powered car until she had had some experience and matured a bit, and my wife and I thought she would be safe in something else.

I think we were simply not grasping what each other was on about. Anyway, I agree, back to the thread theme.

Colleague just pointed out to me (honestly, I wasn't reading the article...), apparently Britney's day in court involved some questions from Commissioner Gordon. Good on him for finally getting out of Gotham City, must have got a bit mundane having Batman do all the fun jobs.

I was driving to work this morning, like I do everyday, and was listeneing to the today programme on Radio 4, like I do everyday, and there was a debate on involving former Chancellor Nigel Lawson, the guy responsible for Black Wednesday when the interest rates rose by 16% in one day.

Now as you could imagine it was quite a serious debate concerning the state of the economy and the credit crunch, when Mr Lawson in reply to a question about the euro, just said " that would be inappropriate".

I just pissed myself. Mrs JTC just had no idea

Took the nearly-three year old daughter to the museum on the weekend. I thought that while she was probably still too young to appreciate it properly, she might at least get some sort of visual stimulation out of it. Sitting munching chips in the cafe afterwards, having spent the previous hour chasing her through dinosaur bones, egyptian mummies, aboriginal art and rock crystals, I asked her which bit she liked the most. Without hesitation she replied:

"the lifts".

kids today, I tell ya....
