The truth about the Power

Talk on the national game

Allow me to play devil's advocate for a minute: Port will pick up, pure and simple. I loved watching the GF last year, and that would have been demoralising. If the Power play like they did on Sunday, they will step up.
Many on this thread have pointed to the fact that the Crows hadn't been in any GFs this decade. This is a good point, and I have no idea why. Is it a coaching thing? Craigy's finals coaching isn't awesome, but coaches don't lose games, players do. I don't know what the Crows do wrong in finals.

In summary, the Power will step up, because much as I hate to say it, they do have a decent side on the park. Their recent form (or lack thereof) is just that: Recent. That will probably start next week. Oh, and go the Crows! was in there (kinda), too.
Are you gonna eat that?

NO coincidence (IMO) that Port Power haven't won a game since Michael Wilson got injured....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

EXACTLY. He's my favourite player because he's probably made more of his limited ability than any other player, simply by beating people with his competitive spirit.

He can't return soon enough IMO.

Trust me DA, he's not just rated by Port supporters......

quality player, quality individual...the epitome of real footy toughness (along with our current skipper at the Bay - Ben Mules) in my book.

One thing I must admire from the Adelaide camp is the fact they use the words 'relentless' and 'competitive' to descibe their game style, and it is.Pity my boys dont take a bit of that on board instead of just relying on 'pace' and 'skills'.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

What makes him tough is the fact that he doesnt rate himself as tough either. He is one of the most humble blokes you will ever meet. He has had alot of bad luck and obstacles thrown at him over the years, but never complains.

just been looking through my stats for the year to date and its quite obvious why Port arent going well, their defence is really struggling, statistically the worst in the league....missing Wakelin I feel, plus Wilson obviously....look at their names back six in the paper today....not good, be interesting to see how they handle Brown and Bradshaw tomorrow night...

having watched a number of games this year it seems to me the Power have got this awful habit of over using the ball, far to much handball, short kicking etc...........they seem unable to play clear direct footy, sure they havent got alot of key position forwards, but they seem continually looking for options??
maybe this is also a confidence thing as they dont have (at the moment) to many match winning dominant players..............

But FFS kick the frigging ball!!!!!!!...........stop this reliance on the short game and start to look down the ground and kick to position!!!............

hey it may not be the answer but its a hell of alot better than the current option!!..

They seem to go back to this style of play when this don't go to plan for them. Port were doing the same crap years ago. Blame Choco. It might be time to go Choco!!

The truth about the Power is that they probably overachieved last season and haven't improved as much as some of their rivals.

I'll repeat what I said in another thread as it seems apt to this topic:

WTF is the AFL thinking bringing in new sides when your have underachieving jokes like Port Adelaide going around who can't even draw a crowd in an Australian Rules Football state let alone get within 100 points of a decent team in a game that counts?

The experiment has failed, no crowd, no heart, no score, Port are a joke in the AFL.

Bring a 2nd composite side in Adelaide now to replace Port before going any further now AFL before its too late!!!!!! :?

Port are the biggest joke of the entire world.

With the draft and salary cap, every side is a composite side IMHO. There is no incentive for AFL clubs to develop players in zones.

Port Power were born of the Magpies, yes. They claim that tradition, yes. Do I hate what they did to the SANFL in 1990? Yes. They are still a composite team though.
