Thought the same to myself all day and a couple of West supporters I chatted to didn't like it either.
They should be trying to win the game, not try and not lose the game.
(If you know what I mean)

Heard Cupido was suffering from Gastro which prevented him taking the field for part or all of last quarter, not sure whether thats right or not though.

Who was that little 37 for Norwood, he cut us to ribbons with his pace.
Jessie Aish's run and foot skills really hurt us until he got crunched (and it was not very hard). The hard ball get does not seem high on his priorities. But he is tall and quick and skillful, made young Dangerfield realise how much faster and harder real mens football is rather than VFL U18's.
Dangerfield looks the goods, just needs to learn to tackle. Obviously something he has never bothered doing in the past. But his awareness in close and the ability to change direction then accelerate was impressive.
We were disorganised and confused on numerous occasions and we looked like a team that needed to keep referring to their notes as to what they were supposed to do. We looked our best in the second half of the first quarter when we just played with passion and bashed if forward at all costs (and got a few frees). After that it was hard to tell if we were trying to implement an as yet unlearnt system or whether we were really just that crap!!
To be fair to Norwood they may well have been as confused by WAFC's strategy as we were, dragging the game down to a lower standard than it should have been.
Both teams look better than what I saw last year though IMO.

Interesting stat from the Reserves game. The half-time free kick count was 25 to 4, Norwood's way. I'm not inferring anything from that, only that it's an unusual stat, to say the least.

Dunno but ironically the only time he went up forward was in the last quarter.
Perhaps playing in the backlines was giving him the shits?

And obviously very short of match practice. With all respect to Puopolo, who played well, he's not in the same class as Gray.
