Piss poor effort from the bloods apart from a 10 minute spurt in the last 10 minutes of the 1str quarter.

I get the feeling it may be another long year..

Thought the same to myself all day and a couple of West supporters I chatted to didn't like it either.
They should be trying to win the game, not try and not lose the game.

Heard Cupido was suffering from Gastro which prevented him taking the field for part or all of last quarter, not sure whether thats right or not though.

Dunno but ironically the only time he went up forward was in the last quarter.

Perhaps playing in the backlines was giving him the shits?

Cupido was vomiting most of the 3/4 break and had to stop for about 3 chunders on the way back to the bench.

It was that lovely brown stuff you know the stuff that comes out when you have run out of that lovely green stuff.

Nothing like vomiting from your bowels. He looked crook as a dog. I had been pretty disappointed in his performance up till then, well more his decision making when in possession. I quickly reassessed this when I saw how sick he was. Probably should not have been playing.

Bailey looked very lethargic too, was he sick too?

I didnt have a budget.

Who was that little 37 for Norwood, he cut us to ribbons with his pace.

Jessie Aish's run and foot skills really hurt us until he got crunched (and it was not very hard). The hard ball get does not seem high on his priorities. But he is tall and quick and skillful, made young Dangerfield realise how much faster and harder real mens football is rather than VFL U18's.

Dangerfield looks the goods, just needs to learn to tackle. Obviously something he has never bothered doing in the past. But his awareness in close and the ability to change direction then accelerate was impressive.

We were disorganised and confused on numerous occasions and we looked like a team that needed to keep referring to their notes as to what they were supposed to do. We looked our best in the second half of the first quarter when we just played with passion and bashed if forward at all costs (and got a few frees). After that it was hard to tell if we were trying to implement an as yet unlearnt system or whether we were really just that crap!!

To be fair to Norwood they may well have been as confused by WAFC's strategy as we were, dragging the game down to a lower standard than it should have been.

Both teams look better than what I saw last year though IMO.

It was nice to see Bailey hit Zorzi on the chest with a pinpoint pass though..............

Number 37 is Josh Donohue, played a few league games last year and hopefully can cement a spot this year. A few players to come back though but fortunately for Josh they are the bigger key position boys.

I wonder if Westies running around and warming up before the match like the AFL do was a good idea? I always thought that psyching up in the rooms, running out, a few kicks then into it was the best way to go?

I'm not sure about that, Fester. Our first quarter was our only good quarter.

Interesting stat from the Reserves game. The half-time free kick count was 25 to 4, Norwood's way. I'm not inferring anything from that, only that it's an unusual stat, to say the least.

Luckily he's got Bailey to help him out there.

Sadly you're on the money, a big reason why he hasn't been drafted.

Campbell and Zorzi both sensational for the Legs. I was surprised at how poor West were, I expected more from them.

From my point of view all 25 were there, a few strange one's paid to West though.

And obviously very short of match practice. With all respect to Puopolo, who played well, he's not in the same class as Gray.

Skills weren't great but still a good game of footy to watch (being a norwood fan) with the hard ball gets playing a pivotal role in the advantage from the stoppages. To be honest couldn't expect much from West with so many new faces out there, give them 2-3 weeks and they'll be big improvers and i think they'll start to win some games. Campbell BOG by a mile. More a confidence booster after last weeks embarrassment to an awesome looking Sturt side. After next week we will be able to see where the team is after such a positive 5 or so months off the field.

Dangerfield impressed me and will have gained no greater experience than Saturday playing against the bigger/smarter bodies of SANFL football.
How ya geeeen?

Cupido did have gastro he turned up to the game fine and it hit him about half time of the twos, which is why he didn't get replaced. Also he didn't play any time in the last quarter he came off at about the 20 minute mark of the 3rd quarter. He has played some good footy down back and if the coach thinks he is best for the team down there then that is where his best position is.

Puopolo did play well although Gray is short on match fitness and was on restricted game time from the power.

Good to see the Redlegs re-group and post a morale boosting victory.

Expect improvement again this week, as a win gives the younger players more confidence at this Level.
