Well done Nathan, he's done the best with the cards he was dealt.

1)Get into an AFL team because of your father.

2)Get carried through a GF by the rest of your team.

3)Retire before anyone realises you're no good.

Well done to Nathan for not just playing on with no passion and taking the $$ and his club to the cleaners like so many other players do. Very noble IMHO, pity a few dozen others don't take a leaf out of his book.

Nathan choose to play. The club choose to keep him in the side when they could have gone with Blake. Good luck to Nathan and remember his father retired and came back in the same year.

Actually no because if Hawkins played they probably would have won by more.

Forgive me if ive missed something here, but hes got a contract for 2008 and therefore will be paid whatever his base salary was and this money will go towards the cats salary cap despite the fact he has no intention of playing a game. I cant see how this is very noble.

Contracts can be torn up, with the consent of both parties - my guess is that would happen here.

It may still count against the salary cap (unsure on AFL rules with that one) but I doubt very much they will actually fork over any cash.

Exactly.
And I'd rather him do that than what most of the Port side did and just rock up and get paid like they did in the Grand Final.
