Forgive me if ive missed something here, but hes got a contract for 2008 and therefore will be paid whatever his base salary was and this money will go towards the cats salary cap despite the fact he has no intention of playing a game. I cant see how this is very noble.

Contracts can be torn up, with the consent of both parties - my guess is that would happen here.

It may still count against the salary cap (unsure on AFL rules with that one) but I doubt very much they will actually fork over any cash.
