I don't think we use that term anymore either.

The Port area blokes were always up for the game and afterwards
Drove up Port Road with one eye shut many times
I was the MC when Bubbles Milne married one of my wife's best friends
That was fun with a room full of Rivvies and PAOC players (both in A1)
Gave me plenty of material
Ended up with everyone remaining friends for years

I think people often downplay the difference between saying a homophobic slur around all of your straight mates versus saying a homophobic slur which is directed at someone/a crowd of people where potentially someone is gay and has copped 'abuse' all the time.

Just because me and my mates would joke about it and never got offended at each other doesn't mean weren't seriously offending others at that point in time who had gone through the same shit for years.

Also off course we never saw anyone get offended, imagine in the 90's if we were all standing around making jokes and one bloke got up and said enough is enough, even his own teammates would have turned on them.

I also hate the current social media posts 'whats the difference between that and being called a red head' ect ect. I don't think that needs to be explained why its so different.

People in wheelchairs can find slopes offensive…
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

If this happened in round 1 or the Crowd weren’t in finals contention he’d get 5 and that would be that.
Why should the penalty be less because finals start in 3 weeks?

We're not really making any ground, are we?

I understand where you are coming from and I am certainly not trying to justify what he did.

We are making ground, I would suggest many are far more open minded and caring than we as a society use to be. Me included.

I just don’t see how saying something offensive is worse than a strike to the head which could kill somebody.

Maybe 20% of their yearly wage might be more appropriate

I don’t think it should be less than regular season games, same should apply.

I think all the penalties have been too high for what they have done.

The AFL said they want it out of the game and will keep increasing penalties until it’s stamped out.

They should be doing that with punches/strikes too then.

The longer this goes the more I get this feeling that "suspended sentence" is coming into play.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Did Quaynor get upset because he got called a whatever was said & he's not one, or because he's embarrassed to be one.

And does this mean that should someone call another player a straight white male, he too can be reported because he's offended because he IS gay?

I reckon this sort of stuff should be sorted out in private after the footy by the 2 parties involved,

Then if it's not resolved, take matters further.

Maybe they could apply that theory to any offence?
Striking, racism, sling tackles?

Edit: too slow as I just read Brodlach’s reply

Even the media have gone quiet on this...something strange is brewing.
Surely he doesnt get away with it
The alternative is AFL is trying to go even harder on him and Crows are fighting it

Reckon you might be right. They clearly dont want him to miss the GF if Crows can get there
