Hand on heart, this transpired this morning at a certain busy servo on Henley Beach Rd…

5 of us in line to pay
“Next please” says ol’ mate behind the counter
Up walks Miss Brains
“What pump number” he asks
“Umm, err, umm, it’s the, the, the blue Mazda”
“There’s 3 blue Mazdas out there, luv. How much did you put in?”
Silence
“Umm, I think it was about fifty something dollars, I think…”
“No, can’t be that amount. Was it $62?”
“Yes! I’m pretty sure that’s it”
Woman next in line “No, that’s mine, pump 7”
Woman behind me “And I drive the other blue Mazda & I’m pump 4”
“Righto”, says ol’ mate, “your pump 6, $48.57”
“Oh, ok”
(there’s now 7 in line, not sure where the co worker was)
Miss Brains then fumbles around looking for her card in her purse
Tradie 2 behind me, “For f#ck sake”
Muffled laughter from a few
She finally pays and ol mate tells her “next time try to remember your pump number to save any hassle”
“I know that, I’m not an idiot!!!” she fires back
Loud laughter from all in line.

The old wait until the cashier says the price to then go and grab your card or cash is one of my biggest pet hates on the planet!!!!!!

FFS you've been in line for 5 minutes, stop scrolling on your phone and get yourself organised!!

100% agree.. it's not like getting to the cashier and having to pay is a surprise - you're literally going in to do that, get your **** card or cash out ready

Yep and even worse when they havent even decided if they wanted to pay by cash or card. Or they decide they want to pay by cash if they have enough on them so they start searching the depth of their purse/pockets looking for the 30cents in change.

Won $244 on a $3 F4 yesterday in Ascot, money went into my Sportsbet account and then I had another couple of wins, about 40 minutes later they took it back out, there had been a protest upheld which I was unaware of that one was even lodged.

I got on the chat line and complained as I felt that they shouldn't have given the winnings if there was a protest in place, Lucien at the other end of the chat didn't seem to give a toss, I ended up saying that I had ordered a heap of takeaway for my family for dinner and I was going to transfer the winnings to cover it.........they ended up making my account inactive due to financial hardship caused by gambling, yet there was still over $300 in the account!

Two lessons learnt, when I get a decent winner, withdraw it straight away (did once a few years ago with a $1200 trifecta winner in Sha Tin, I ended up having -$1120 in my account as there was a protest upheld, they wiped the deficit as I told them I just wouldn't make any deposits again.

Second lesson is to not give them a bullshit story about the loss, it was a nuisance to re-activate the account to retrieve the $300+ in there and some woman interrogated me for about 10 minutes to see if I should be allowed to gamble

Because I nearly lost over $300 too thinking I was being clever. I have to see the funny side of it as I was livid after it happened.

Now that I work in retail, that is one of the most frustrating things. Customers come in, put their items on the counter, I do the scanning etc & then "better get my wallet from the car" or "hang on while I transfer some money to my card". Meanwhile 2-3 customers waiting behind them

I had a bit of a run in with them once when they didn't give me a bonus that I thought I had earnt
The bloke promised to give it to me (as an ex-gratia) but didn't

I just withdrew down to $1 and didn't use them for a month
I had e-mails and calls - I just ignored them but they kept at it
Eventually I responded & told them I didn't trust them anymore because of it
They tape everything so remember that

You would think I was a $m pw punter the way they chased me.

Anyway, I reinstated & I reckon I get 2x the offers I used to
