Re: Things that make you laugh
We were never holding JHF, just like you wont hold Houston.
I did also laugh at Kaneo now saying Houston was ahead of Rozee as a Top 3 player at Port.

Re: Things that make you laugh
Think Gerard Whately on AFL360 summed it up perfectly last night, Port go back to Houston now and say a deal is not going to be done, we need you, we want you, you have 4 year deal, we may look at it in the future but we cant afford to trade you as we cant get a decent player to replace you etc. I think they will stay strong on this and more clubs should. Players with multi year contracts wanting to move just need to suck it up.Dutchy wrote:Going to keep a player that wants to leave?Booney wrote:Correct, as did North and they were compensated appropriately. No?Dutchy wrote:Port fans demanding they hold all the cards over Houston cause he is contracted, short memories.
So until adequate compensation is forthcoming we hold the cards.
Of course you ain't.

Comparing the Horne-Francis request to that of Houston was interesting.Eagles2014 wrote: Think Gerard Whately on AFL360 summed it up perfectly last night, Port go back to Houston now and say a deal is not going to be done, we need you, we want you, you have 4 year deal, we may look at it in the future but we cant afford to trade you as we cant get a decent player to replace you etc. I think they will stay strong on this and more clubs should. Clearly I’m not a Katy Perry fan but to go from zero concerts to three in only hours should show other artists they need to come to Adelaide

Absolutely ... on the caveat the no govt incentives were at play here (not suggested that there were).Brodlach wrote:Clearly I’m not a Katy Perry fan but to go from zero concerts to three in only hours should show other artists they need to come to Adelaide

Apparently the promoters got venue at a discounted rate.dedja wrote:Absolutely ... on the caveat the no govt incentives were at play here (not suggested that there were).Brodlach wrote:Clearly I’m not a Katy Perry fan but to go from zero concerts to three in only hours should show other artists they need to come to Adelaide
And possibly well played by her management leaving a few holes in her tour.

Discounting the venue fee is OK ... better having events than none at all.

Re: Things that make you laugh
Better to have a discounted rate than nothing at all and have a big contingent of SA people traveling interstate to see her concerts. Spend the money here

Malinauskas has been asked to spend more money on health, education, roads etc etc, best way to do that is grow the economy and every event we hold does that.

Re: Things that make you laugh
You'd be a bit dark if you had to stump up for the remaining tickets at the highest price for the 1st, then 2nd gig only to find out that another one had been added and you could have got them cheaper ... but maybe fans don't care, as of yesterday there was no concert.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

Re: Things that make you laugh
I doubt they would care, they just wanted tickets.
All credit it Mali, he was the one that got her here. Has brought a lot of extra things to the state, the money is being pumped into the right areas but just doesn’t seem to be fixing the issue. At some point it will be god only knows when.

Re: Things that make you laugh
Health is a very slow moving monster.
Modbury, the QEH and Noarlunga are all starting dedicated mental health facilities in the next 6 months which will ease a massive burden off the system.
The QEH new development is open, the Lyell Mc new development is open and Flinders is out to tender.
There's 8 new ambulance stations built or being built.
It's coming*.

I wasn't critical of the discounted hire price, just that it would have helped.
3 sold out shows, it will be good for the economy.

Re: Things that make you laugh
Considering I forked out $250 for a Pearl Jam ticket in Melbourne next month, $450 price gouged airfare & $320 price gouged accommodation, I’m not complaining..,

Funding health is a never ending losing battle, State governments can’t keep up the expenditures required now, let alone in the future.Booney wrote:Health is a very slow moving monster.

That’s said, Labor have kicked a few own goals with regards to their health policies and funding over many years.
Transforming health was an unmitigated disaster, and the recent spend on mental health services is more than offset by the way Labor previously gutted mental health services. Ramping speaks for itself, and the Labor strategy now is seemingly to ignore it and hope that people simply will forget their promises.
That said, I don’t think a change in government (more chance of me rooting Katy Perry than the Libs winning an election any time soon) will change much to improve health spending and outcomes, but sometimes worth putting things into perspective.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.
