Congrats on a terrific career Dan Menzel. He’s certainly a guy that can hang up the boots saying I gave my all.

Full credit to Dan Menzel - he got everything from his body he could. His first 18 months were brilliant, his last 12 months he's struggled. Some players of this game are special and he was indeed that. A pure football brain and class act. I'm glad he was able to add a Ken Farmer Medal, Premiership Medal and State footy to his career. He was easily best 22 in that Geelong era where he dealt with 4 knee reconstructions and missed three seasons of footy whilst Geelong were winning premierships. A Central District product, he'll be remembered mainly as a very good Geelong player who suffered terrible luck with injury, a stint at Sydney and a golden season or two at the Eagles where he deservedly added some sweet football memories to his individual career and helped the team to the ultimate success.

If he still feels like playing footy, you can imagine he'll dominate at the ammos/country level. Even with his body well below what it could be, he dominated a fair portion of his SANFL games.

For a guy who had to deal with the setbacks he did to keep coming back and eventually win a flag and a Ken Farmer his success is well deserved.
