The salary cap is probably a necessarily evil unfortunately.

I reckon if a club can detect a talented youngster and he wants to work for them that's how it should be..and how is was to a certain degree...
\Do you reckon the Carlton talent scout has earnt his money when they pick Kruezer as number 1 pick? I dont think so...
If I worked for Holden and Ford offered me more money and someone told me I HAD to work for Toyota for a specific wage I wouldn't be happy..

There are possibly too many clubs in Melbourne for zoning to work. I couldn't imagine SA or WA agreeing to Melbourne clubs getting zones in their states. Mass relocation would be needed and the fights over the relativity of the zones would be huge with everyone claiming their allocated zone needed bolstering with special concessions.

Not having a salary cap would cause massive problems, it would be just like English soccer.
I think as long as the zones were clearly set out (eg in SA i think it would be easy with Port getting half of the 10 foundation SANFL clubs (as it stood in 1964) and the Crows getting the other half......... eg Port - PAMFC, CD, WWT and NA, and the Crows the rest). I think any "fights" over zones would be a lot more preferrable to the situation now with the way underperforming clubs are rewarded for their mediocrity, the stench of tanking is never too far away, and the yearly ritual where players try to use the trade system to get back to a club in their home state. Given that 90% of youngsters would probably want to play for a club in their home state, trade week would be nowhere near the drama it is currently.

Just wondering what any Roos supporters out there think of him. Hes only played a handful of games, is this injury or form?
