I am genuinely surprised at how many players have signed pre-draft.

Provided he doesn’t get injured playing for Southern District in the NTFL
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I’m sure all have that well known clause included in their contracts.

However think it is a reflection of the current landscape of reduced lists and the Rebadged VFL franchises being politically cognoscent of their priority recruiting zones and academies so keeping spots on lists for those players (here’s looking at you GC and GWS).

All starting from the way the club handled the Jeff Andrews saga. If the Menzel boys wanted to go to another club for money they wouldn’t be playing in the sanfl. I think you’ll find there is a lot more to this that the club is not letting on.

you are sooooooooooooooooooooooo wrong, everything's fine at Centrals, a couple of players have gone elsewhere, for some very good reasons, nothing sinister at all, happens to every club, on the other hand we are actively seeking other players & if we pull these off, people won't be speculating so much.
Chill

The players we are attempting to recruit, are they league standard or just more good reserves footballers.

The 2 in mind, every club would take in a heartbeat.

Under the recently departed Doggies coach, I believe the brothers were well positioned to take off-field roles that are currently filled. This at the discretion of an individual not the Club.
So its fair to say those lads were particularly disappointed to see their coach go.
One of them spoke very highly of the departed coach at the Presentation.

Several players at the same evening, did not speak highly of the coach; one publicly said he was very close to leaving mid-season; another pointedly said that the 3 games we won were due to Thommo's nous as mids coach.

The Club had a situation where they had a polarising coach. As a result of their decision to replace him, they have lost two brothers. If they had stayed the course, they would have lost many more players than just two.

AS whufc says; not a great situation at CDFC at present, but a better place than 6 months ago.
Thommo will unite the lads, and we will be competitive. After all, the Club finished strongly last year without either brother playing.

The one small worry I have is that I keep hearing Boyd was very vocal about his disapproval of the old coach.

In the same sense Boyd seems to be a very polarising character. Given his history of packing up and moving around clubs he should be the last one looking to 'out' a coach.

The bloke can play but whether its coincidence or not success seems to allude him wherever he goes (apart from one premiership in arguably the most dominant sports team on the planet at the time) teams don't tend to take the ultimate prize.

Boyd was also commonly mentioned as leaving because of Laird. There seems to be a pattern starting.

Boydie would not be easy to coach. he is a "see ball get ball" player who relies on instincts and finds some aspects of the game harder to adhere to.

I am not aware of him outwardly blasting the previous coach.

I also think its fair to set the record. Boydie left the Dogs against his wishes. Roy made that clear at the time. it was not James leaving because of Roy.

sacking a coach with two years to run on his contract when the club was crying poor at the start of the year to supporters and sponsors for assistance is a disgrace!

They got Andrews there to clean up the mess - when he started showing them the issues the boys club didn’t like it. Kris Grant is the biggest issue at that club and now he has gone and got another lap dog in Paul Thomas who will do what he’s told to coach....

Kris Grant needs to get out the front bar, stop punting and f*ck off into the sunset. As for some of them assistant coaches let’s be honest they are half the issue also....

With all due respect they got Jeff to coach... not to turf out everybody within the Clubs heairachy including legends such as Platts. He became a threat to those who gave him his opportunity.

But everything is OK. LOL
i posted a comment years ago about this and got ridiculed. Its that obvious it isn't funny.

Like i said, drag in an ex champion to solve it. Boys clubs have been at all clubs but they still still dont learn.
West were the last example and look where they are.

Central when they bought in Jonas and also when they bought in Roy Laird are other good examples.

Bit of a rubbish debate. West for example have won 2 premierships in about 60 years (with Kerley and Mickan) did they have "boys club" coaches in the other 58 years. So many contradictions. Was Bassett "boys club" at Norwood and Cotton not? Jack Cahill at Port -"boys club"? I'd say a majority of Central supporters are very happy to see Thommo in as head coach.
