Yes and cried all the way home. Unfortunately The Western Eagles attack is very, very thin. With a limit of six overs for Spencer Johnson it further reduced the effectiveness of the attack. It was most probably a case of who ever won the toss was in the best position. The winner of the toss was always going to send the opposition in. There was a little bit in the wicket early but then settled down to the normal road. It was good to see the Redback's coach come out and watch a fair bit of the match..........most probably the first R'backs coach to come and watch a match at Henley for about five years.

Right from the word go, Sturt set out confidently in their run chase. They knew the target, knew the pitch was a road and the outfield was extremely quick. Full credit to them for their approach.

Henley Oval used to be fast, bouncy and green. One of the best and fairest tracks going around. Incentive to bend your back for the bowlers, true bounce and coming onto the bat for the batsmen.

Kensington with a couple of their state guys win over Glenelg. Probably expected Port a good win down at Bice Oval. Port were probably slight favourites there. Uni winning over Adelaide not a surprise as such but perhaps the ease with which they did it was East Torrens over a competitive Prospect expected
West Torrens vs Sturt was probably a 50/50 game so a good pick up for the Blues
Woodville the big winners of the round for mine at TTG. Look to have recruited well.
Round 2 Northern Districts vs Glenelg. Have the Jets picked up anyone of note? Kensington vs Tea Tree Gully. Expect the Browns to win at home I guess but I assume Worrall and Pope both out? Woodville vs Southern District. Peckers should win here Port Adelaide vs West Torrens. Always spicy. Would be huge for Port to start 2-0. Another ton+ to get Gibson in the Shield team? Sturt vs Prospect. Blues should win here East Torrens vs Adelaide. Evenly matched. Will Lehmann/Valente be available? Could be the decisive factor.

Watched more Grade Cricket in one session than the previous coach would have done in the last 5 years!!

I Conway for Port is from Melbourne (Essendon / Canterbury), but has been making a bucketload of runs for Waratah in the NT last few winters and skippered their flag this year. Fair debut from him. H. Martin had a crack at Uni few years back. Bowls (left arm offie) better than he bats, had a lean run with Palmerston and batted 7 most the year in the NT winter. Handy cricketer tho, time will tell at this level.

All changed once Trent Kelly retired and he stopped doing the pitch, he always made sure it had something in it to help him
Is a disgraceful pitch these days, absolute road, and without being able to the shine the ball teams will make 500 on it. Who would want to be a pace bowler anymore, kids will be spinners or batters

Heard a rumour that one club has effectively "outsourced" their 4th Grade team this season. Handed it over for someone to look after, organise players etc. Club provides the venue. They play under the club name.

This is the exact reason that there should have been no 4th-grade comp this year.... At least as of next there will be a forced overhaul of the grade cricket structure

This is the exact reason that there should have been no 4th-grade comp this year.... At least as of next there will be a forced overhaul of the grade cricket structure
I agree, the 4th Grade should have gone. But in hindsight, will be needed next year.
However it happens, there will only be 10 teams, so will be lots of leftover players.
Consensus seems to be Clubs don't like the two Division proposal, which leaves either three mergers take place or SACA form a new comp with 10 teams and clubs need to apply to play in it. But will definitely be happening in 2021/22!!

To rehash an old post and to limit the need to go through the whole scenario of choosing teams to merge or cull - let performance dictate as below.

Reserve Grade B - Optional Entry to be determined before start of season by each club - Essentially 4th/3rd Grade teams, up to clubs if they want to submit a team or their Reserve Grade players play for local clubs.
Every club to also have a Womens team in a similar set-up.
Juniors, just one U17, U15 and U13 team playing each weekend with fluid player movement between local clubs and grade clubs to ensure everyone is getting a game and the most committed and talented are playing in the Grade teams.
