How this hasnt been captured I will never know... Was it a Channel 7 game?

This encompasses everything that is wrong with the AFL at the moment.

Any league, any where, you throw your mouthguard at a player, you would get reported.
More so if you are right in front of the umpire who is setting the mark on the goal line.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Bad luck Johnno. Challenge it, by all means, but expect the eight.

Exactly right. This is the kind of crap that the AFL must come down hard on. Sure, yelling and screaming is OK, but throwing your mouthguard at another player should be somewhere akin to spitting at them.

You guys cant be serious?

Booney what is the difference between throwing your mouthguard and throwing mud (AFL players dont get much mud to play with these days)?

I have never seen anyone ever get reported for throwing a mouthguard, including myself chucking my mouthguard after a shonky decision v Kangies a few years ago (Although it was worth a 50 m, but that was probably the barrage of expletives that accompanied it  )

Another p!ssweak reason for the AFL to collect extra $$ in my book.

Have you seen the footage? He was standing the mark on the goal line. The Bulldogs players was taking his kick and just as he kicked he threw the mouth guard at his head. It only just missed. If it was just throwing his mouth guard down on the ground then fair enough it shouldn't be reportable but he threw it at his opponents head.

Sure it's a pretty soft report but you can't have blokes getting away with chucking their mouth guards at other blokes heads all day. The only alternatives are to either ignore it and see a mouth guard chucked at every player taking a shot for goal from now on, or award a free kick and another shot at goal. I'm sure the fine would go down better than giving another shot at goal.

Hey I like the second kick at goal solution - real impact in response to impactful intent!

Rod, love that idea, that would stop players doing that kind of stuff.

Johnson accepts six-match ban

COLLINGWOOD’S Ben Johnson will miss the rest of the season after accepting the six-week suspension offered by the match review panel.

Johnson was charged with making forceful contact front on – now considered one of the most serious charges in the game, after the AFL vowed to crack down on such contact at the start of the season.

The incident in Friday’s match against Melbourne left Daniel Bell with bruising to his head and upper back, after he was taken from the ground in a neck brace.

The six weeks means Johnson won’t play again even if Collingwood plays in all four weeks of the finals series.

1) Something I feel that has been overlooked in the Johnson/Bell clash, is that as Bell goes down, the Demon player running through collects his head with his knee, forcing it back (whiplash like) in the other direction.
What my concern is, is that Johnson is being penalised for an injury that (potentially) happened, which was more unfortunate, than being his fault.

2) Baker/Farmer- this is the very incidents the VFL/AFL/SANFL/WAFL have been trying to remove from our game.
In their "endeavours" to clean up the game, it is akin to the AFL Police running around fining people for littering & parking infringements, whilst ignoring the more obvious murders & armed robberies...

A deliberate behind the scene of play "taking out" of a player should be the most heavily policed and punished offence of all. A dangerous charge and impact when a safer tackle could have been applied should also be treated very seriously.

If these are not eliminated from the game Soccer will continue to outgrow real football at schools, as more parents decide their children should not risk serious injury in a game where deliberately doing so to opposition players seems to them to be an accepted norm.

The "It's a man's game!" excuse is not going to offset that.
