Have to admit I was one of those who assumed the Power Reserves would be easy pickings following the tragic events of last night. All "No AFL in the SANFL" issues to one side, it can only be assumed they were fair dinkum today.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Maybe they were scared of Kochies wrath today, perhaps he should have spoken 24 hours earlier.

I reckon Sturt and Dogs would have beaten them today. Eagles were pretty poor.

The Eagles have been off the boil for a few weeks but I was surprised by the Preserves today. I thought they'd not even put up a whimper like the Cows Ressies did last year. I hope we can get past the Eagles next week and then have a decent crack at the Pressies the week after.

Pathetic eagles. First quarter our foot and hand skills were below SANFL standard, we fumbled and constantly bombed the ball forward without looking. I thought Poole, Thompson and Stewart were the only ones who could hold there heads up high this match.

Performances of West (absolutely destroyed in the ruck from the opening bounce), Johanson (lack of desperation and pressure when not wit the ball), J Hayes (non-existent mirroring weeks of sub-standard performances) and Giuffreda (worst first half of his career) were very concerning.

Bornholm MUST come into the side next week replacing either West or J Hayes. Not really sure what other changes we can make as there hasn't really been anyone in the reserves knocking down the door throughout the season.

Agreed. Robbie was under his skin and he shouldn't have done that, looked poor.

For fear of copping some anti-Port wrath I'll comment on the Eagles.

Again, September comes around and bar Wundke the Eagles side looked incapable of hitting the scoreboard. Clearly a key forward short of where they need to be, perhaps two and the ruck division looks light on, especially with Hayes backing up the first choice ruckman.

Goes to show how the Eagles are super hard to beat at Woodville, I think it's the hardest place to go and win, but get them away from Woodville in the pressure cooker of finals and they're a different unit.

From what I saw yesterday I expect Sturt to make it through to play Port in a fortnight.

Howard, Neade, Marshall and Bonner become available in the Grand Final. ( One other I think but name escapes me ).

I'm not aware of any going in for surgery, I would imagine if there is they'd be going in today or tomorrow.

I'd be more worried about the lost time off for end of season recovery. Another 2 weeks of training/playing but the AFL team isn't in the finals.
I can see a few omissions coming up for the more senior players that are eligible.

If they played yesterday I expect they had a reasonably clean bill of health. For instance Billy Frampton ( qualified for finals ) and Jack Hombsch ( not qualified ) have been sent off for season ending surgery as soon as it became apparent it was required. If there were any others I'd expect they too would have been sent to Dr Slaughter.

True.
Maybe Port Maggies winning the premiership in the SANFL is what the league needs to bring this to a head...

Well, the Dogs' late run came to a halt. We threw everything at Sturt and just couldn't get the choccies.
Skills of both sides were questionable at times - but that was finals footy pressure.
All day, Sturt were just that little bit more intense, a little bit cleaner and just that far ahead.
Josh Glenn impressive for us again. Butcher did a great job.
I think, as Cennals and I discussed before the game, Presbury's absence (less said about that report the better) cost us a bit of that zip in the forward lines that he's brought in the past few weeks. Could've made the difference in a tight contest.
Given the results of the season, we just needed this to be our fourth match against Sturt for the season and we'd be playing next week.
Best of luck to Sturt next week, they're better than the Eagles, who are heading for a sixth straight loss to end the season.

Don't know a figure, but much larger in the first game than the second. Says a lot about Sturt's drawing power.

We'll never know for sure, but Im %100 certain you're right.

Also certain that if the Dogs had gotten their act together a bit earlier in the season, the finals would have had a vastly different complexion.

Eagles need a huge turnaround on what they showed yesterday to survive next week .. Think their only hope is yesterdays game taking a bit out of the Sturt boys, because if the Blues get anywhere near their best, the Eagles are out imho.
