I'm guessing a plum 'development coaching' role next season??

Developing what? Fairy gardens in backyards?

For what reason?
isn't it just a fancy way of saying he's being delisted at the end of the season?

Because IMHO he was vastly over rated even at his best. Vastly.

Finished second in the B&F averaging 24 touches a game. Pretty solid. Not sure who is overrating him.

Good servant to the club, not too many players play 200 games. The achilles injury seemed to slow him down massively though.

He's not quite Jimmy Toumpas - VB got the ball more - but he's close.

Probably put his body on the line more too. Recall an effort early in his career where he was smashed in a contest broke his collarbone, managed to tap the ball to a team mate.

Van berlo was a good honest footballer. He wasnt a star but he contributed, played his role and was a good team man. Played the run with role as well as he had good endurance. I would say the crows would be happy what they got out of him over his career.

Yep, just like Carlisle was a "star" when he retired. Bit like when someone passes away their legacy gets inflated somewhat...

Played 200 games and was captain, that certainly affords him this title.

Would you say the same about cassisi?

No. As in no, he's not a great of our club.

jeez you are incredibly harsh.

VB is only one of 14 players to play 200 games for the crows, and was club captain. That is enough to be called a "great" of the club.

Was he one of the best players to ever play for the club? of course not. Thats a different argument. But his service cannot be faulted.

Same applies to cassisi. only 5 players have played more games, and he captained the club.

I'm taking into account all the Port Adelaide players whom I have seen enough of or read enough about to call great and whilst Dom was a leader through a very tough time in our clubs history he, in my view, won;t go down as a club great.

Ebert, Ginever, Hodges, Tredrea, Wanganeen, Cassisi. Doesn't quite fit, but don't underestimate what I think of him, it's just where he sits in our clubs greats debate.

Crows have told Brisbane they can talk to Noble but only after the finals as it would be disruptive to Adelaide during the finals.
Brenton Sanderson anyone?

Is there a difference because they want Noble as Head of Football not Senior Coach? Senior Coach would be more urgent IMO.

Been a big push in the last year or two to avoid people involved in finals being involved in discussions with opposition clubs until the season is over.

Not that losing Sanderson hurt the cats too much that year.
