Hehe i knew who you were referring to. Next year the club will recruit a forward without all those bad Kangaroos habits and who can kick straight.

We'll get our moneys worth with our new CHF recruit (whoever that may be :p) next year 8)

Players who shouldn’t be bolded:

Paul Bevan- In & out of the Swans team
Brent Staker- Struggling to get a game up forward for the Eagles; doesn’t say much.
Kane Tenace- Burns the ball far too often and will probably be traded at years end.
Michael Firrito- Hardly anything out of the ordinary.
Jared Rivers- One year wonder.
Mark LeCras- Average small forward.

Looking at some of those guys, you'd have to say some Crows players are a bit stiff to miss for whatever reason they did. In Brett Rutten's case I'll take the All-Australian gig over a rising star nom

Analysing the rising stars 2004-2007 below. 1st column is number of nominated players, second is the average number of games to date played by those players. I'm not sure how good a guide it is for anything really - other than listing which young guys happened to have a great game in a given week.

No plyrs Av Games
Brisbane 10 17
Melbourrne 9 33
West Coast 8 35
Collingwd 6 29
Carlton 6 26
Geelong 6 30
Port Adel 6 25
Richmond 6 31
Hawthorn 5 29
Bulldogs 5 46
Essendon 4 43
Kangaroos 4 16
Adelaide 1 70
Sydney 1 48
St Kilda 1 17
Fremntle 1 42
In between signatures .....

you have no idea some of the time, seriously -

Bevan - Played the last 8 games straight for the Swans (48 in total) averaging over 11 possies per game, hardly "in & out"

Staker - Played 12 games this season avergaing 15 disposal per game, 69 in total for 46 goals - says plenty

Tenace - Played 9 games this year including 8 of the last 9 averaging 17 disp per game (2 games of 27 & 28 possies) - traded?

Firrito - If not already this is where you completely lose it, being touted as an All Australian this year, not even going to go into the stats, anyone who follows AFL knows how good he has been this year

Rivers - Been unlucky with injury this year but played 22 games last year at CHB averaging 13 possies and 6 marks finishing 8th in the B & F, one year wonder?

LeCras - Played 9 games this year including the last 6 averaging 2 goals per game, for a small forward whos played 15 games what more can you ask for?

you idiot...

I would have included Clinto Young in the group also, otherwise with Syd's amendments, I reckon you're on the money.

You might aswell whack Tom Hawkins name in bold right now too, this boy is going to be awesome to watch for many years to come.

From a Hawthorn point of view Clinton Young, Grant Birchall and Jordan Lewis have all been very good this year and should be bolded IMHO.

as I said I did it farily quickly an bow to those who follow their teams closer than I.

Interesting looking at it -

2004 - very strong year
2005 - not as strong on quantity but high on quality
2006 - be better off judging these guys in 12 months time but possibly not as strong as the previous 2 years

Bit harsh on NFC there Dutchy. Possessions don't mean squat in today's football. Hard to get excited about 11,13, and 15 possies a game. As for Tenace's 17, many of those aren't that effective. NFC has a point about Tenace and how he burns the ball, he has been most fortunate to given the opportunities that he has been provided with this year IMO.

Firrito has been good this year, you're right on that one. Man, is he strong!

fair call but he has had 2 games of 27 & 28 possies, you cant get them unless you can play a bit....we also have to remember all these players are still in the infancy of their careers, Hird, Harvey etc would have done similar numbers in their first 50 games

also why doesnt anyone call him "Blackjack"?

Yep, I like this guy. Carries the ball, long left foot kick. Similar to Fiora, but not as flaky.

I didnt rate the class of 2007 as its too early, agree Smith is a very very good player and 3rd favourite for the Rising Star, just needs to get a smaller head from all reports
