Would double headers on Sundays be better options? Would help with availability as well. I get that we dont want to be giving up Sundays, but Tuesday nights just dont work IMO
Need clear evenings for this to work. Last night wasn't ideal.
Light was always going to be an issue last night. Playing time is from 5.20 to 8.10. Sunset at 8.02. Good luck batting second! Game at Rowe Park finished right on 8.10 and it was very dark. If ATCA are going schedule games in November they need to start at 5.00pm at the latest. Other option is schedule them in December through to February when sunset is 15 minutes later.
I just think that if we have to play them in November, just do it as a group double header on a Sunday, that way the lights no issue, and we can squeeze a Tuesday in December in when the lights better..
All 3 of our grades were called off before the scheduled arrival time on Saturday. Shout out to ROC who phoned about 10am to say there was no chance of play, but gave us the option to still come and look at the deck if we liked. Naturally the drive from Gawler to Rostrevor for a quick look at a bogged grass area wasnt overly appealling to us, so we made the call early. Common sense prevailed
Considering it rained most of Thursday so no work done on pitches....maybe 1 light roll, I would have thought that any rain Saturday morning it would be called off. Looked at the website at 10:30m and it said all games were to continue as planned..... crazy! Most wickets would have only had work done on Friday so pitches would have been well underdone anyway. Umpires called it off at 1;00 at Reynella and we had covers on all morning. Lucky the Flinders boys didn't have far to go.
