The West End Redbacks have significantly bolstered their batting stocks for the 2014-15 season, signing experienced left-hander Mark Cosgrove.
After spending four years with the Tasmanian Tigers, Cosgrove is returning home and will be a welcome addition to the West End Redbacks squad. With a batting average of 42.47, Cosgrove will add fire power to an already dangerous batting line up including Australian Test hopeful Phil Hughes and all-rounder Andrew McDonald.
“With Tom Cooper, Callum Ferguson and Phil Hughes all enjoying stellar seasons with the bat, it is exciting to add another experienced head to the mix,” said SACA General Manager High Performance, Jamie Cox.
Cosgrove has enjoyed success during his time in Tasmania, winning two Bupa Sheffield Shield titles. Returning to Adelaide to be closer to family and friends, Cosgrove is determined to win another Shield title with his home state.
“He has been part of a very successful team at the Tigers over the last few years. After falling agonisingly short in the Bupa Sheffield Shield last year, it is hoped that he can bring some of that experience to the West End Redbacks,” said Cox.
Cosgrove joins key players Callum Ferguson, Kane Richardson, Tom Cooper and Tim Ludeman, who have also committed to multi-year deals, while captain Johan Botha has signed for one more season.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.
