They should be promoting it regardless of whoever is playing. But you will hear next to nothing from them all week with maybe a one pager on each of Friday and Saturday. Instead we will hear more about what Hawthorn are doing post GF and then some hypothetical AFL trades.

Seriously, I can't think of too many other events occurring this weekend that will draw 30,000+. The interest is there so maybe the editors of the Advertiser should get off there butts and actually write something the people want to read rather then telling us was we should be reading.[/quote]

Yep, especially with all the wank they went on about with Port's last game.

Norwood and West have done enough to kill enjoyment in the SANFL over the last few years with the introduction of super-boring football. As inevitable as this style of play was, I hope North win for the good guys and Bassett and Collins are forever destined to be cogs in an AFL machine.

I know, I know, if you wear red and blue you don't care as long as you win, but please, let the Roosters rise up!

You're kidding right? Norwood are the third highest scoring team behind Eagles and North. Don't put Norwood in the same category as Westies. Westies are ULTRA defensive, even more so when they play Norwood. Its hard to kick a score when the opposition puts everyone behind they play. Norwood have a great defensive set up but we also smash teams on the scoreboard too. With North in the GF expect to see a great game that will be much more free flowing than a West v anyone game

The last two games that Norwood have played (against West and North) they have had 30 scoring shots, that's hardly super-boring football. Our game plan isn't just about stopping the opposition scoring, its about belting them on the rebound as well.

Blame Westies/Collins for brining in an ultra defensive game plan, not Norwood.

Lmao, that'd surely be just a few nervous Norwood types looking to lay off against emotional distress wouldn't it?

With it being 53 years since they last played each other in a Grand Final makes me wonder what other combinations we haven't seen for so many years.
South vs Central or Eagles (maybe Glenelg or even Sturt) has obviously never happened. But of sides that have played each other at least once in a Grand Final, which combination hasn't occurred for the longest time?
Possibly Port vs West? I think I read about them playing a Grand Final in front of a massive crowd in the 30's (a reminder of the rich history of the SANFL: Westies once had a following to be reckoned with). If that was the last time it'd be a 73 year gap at least.

Port played West in 1954, 1956, 1958, 1959 and 1962 with Port winning all 5 flags, 3 by less than a goal. Glenelg have never played South or West in a Grand Final. South haven't played Central. West have never played South. If South have ever played Norwood in a Grand Final it would be a long, long time ago. South last played Sturt 73 years ago and North over 100 years ago. North haven't played Sturt for 81 years which is surprising given that they have been in the third and fourth most Grand Finals respectively.

The stat I always found amazing was that until the Eagles played Centrals in the 2000 Grand Final there had never been a Grand final which didn't have at least one of Port, Norwood, North or Sturt.

114 years!! 1899 South won.

Thank you LL and RIG.
Just having a think about how often sides line up against one another in a Grand Final, I realized that for every side to play each other once in a Grand Final, it would take 36 years in a nine team competition, and 45 years in a ten team comp. Norwood and North haven't faced off for 53 years, which exceeds those figures by only 8 years. However, they played each other pretty regularly leading up to that last clash. That makes this a pretty good vintage Grand Final IMO.
Was having a look at the history forum last night and found the "interstate invasion" thread. I think it's fairly relevant to this one. I might post a link,

I can't wait til 6 pm Sunday. I am sick iof Norwood supporters still going on about winning the flag from 5th in 84. After the weekend North would've done it as well. And against a team tat only lost 4 games in the whole year

At least we beat a full strength Port team, unlike the team of Carlton hacks you beat in 72 in that glorified exhibition game you haven't shutup about for over forty years.

Yeah, well, Glenelg is the only SANFL team this millennium to have an undefeated record against an AFL club!!!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Looking forward to this game should get a big crowd and reckon it will be a cracker!!!!

If North can get their running game going it could be quite a high scoring affair as Norwood also know how to find the big sticks.

Hope Shannon gets up this week for the Roosters have been impressed with what I have seen of him during the finals.

What's the word on Thring? He didn't look good, is he any chance of getting up for it?

Also what happened to Luke Ivens has he been injured or did he retire?

Found out the answer," we did not record it". Unbelievable.

When was the decision made to NOT, I repeat NOT record an Official SANFL Press Conference with the two competing teams Captains and Coaches? True ******* story. Get the whole show down there, Captains, Coaches, all the production crew. Set up the back drop with all the MAJOR ******* sponsors, interview the Captains and Coaches for 30 minutes [ I/m guessing] and then NOT ******* PUBLISH IT !!

Am I the only person in Australia that is interested in what Miles has to say. Apparently there was an interesting snippet on Hartlett belting him. Are we ever going to ******* find out what it was that was said?

HEADS MUST ROLL AT THE SANFL !!! Total ******* disgrace. NO ******* WONDER the SANFL is 35 million dollars in the ******* red.

I'm not sure why the uproar, its a PRESS Conference, its put on for the PRESS. I went to one with my kids and I can tell you the only excitement was when the kids got to meet Mark Aiston as they used to see him in EPW.
The event for the public is on Saturday at the Rundle Mall.
