If a Uni player gets reported, I'd be very surprised if the tape wasn't handed over as we've a vested interest in ensuring thuggery is removed as much as possible from the league whether it's generated by one of our players or visited upon us.
In my experience though Uni players don't go around throwing out late hits.
And as FC so correctly pointed out, it's the Grand Finals this week - I'd expect every club to video these games and if they see incidents that all clubs have agreed to try to remove from the league they should bring them to attention because who actually wants to play in a league where late high hits are tolerated.
So no Uni players have ever been reported for striking another in a 'late hit'?? Thats either a massive call Finn, or Uni are what every club should be aiming to be.... I do see however that the sense has prevailed and the Youtube video of the TTG player has been removed by the one who posted it!! I guess the ploy worked though, as an investigation has now been opened and the TTG player has to 're-attend' the Tribunal tomorrow night.... Will be interesting if there is a different outcome to the first!!
I'm not saying that a Uni player has never thrown a late hit but I'm suggesting that we, as a club, would act on those players and have an interest in ensuring that the tribunal sets an example so that players think twice about indulging in these acts (generally as we tend to cop it much more than dish anything out).
I know in the last few years we've gently requested people move on who have tended to be a bit loose on the field.I acknowledge the efforts that many other clubs have put into cleaning up their acts and players; the SAAFL is about a million times better than it was during the late 80's, early 90's.
Weirdly though, the guy who youtubed the video doesn't play for, and isn't an official of, the club...
As an aside, I believe if the tribunal had seen the video, the penalty would have been somewhere between 2-4 weeks.
