With this whole video taping scenario. I ask this. If there is an under age player say 17 playing in the side. Should they team taping the game then ask permission to do so with all the laws on this? I know you cant just go taping this when there are underage children in view. Technical i know but "It's with the rules" of the law no matter what assocuiation your a part of.

If there are under age players playing and the opposing team informs the team taping of this and that they want the taping to stop then they must do so

I'm guessing the same would apply if you had an underage lad doing the boundary umpiring as well?

I know half you blokes are arguing for arguments sake but really!?.....

Amateur teams have been filming games for years! eg. almost every GF played in the past 20years! pretty sure teams and/or league didn't get every underage person present to sign a waiver!

i have no issue with what Uni have done IF and only if it was out of view of the Umpire and it warrants a report. if it is like the one last time then agreed and they need to get over it!

There are no laws preventing anyone filming anyone no matter what age in a public place. The Saafl may have policy on this but it is not unlawful. There are some instances where it could become unlawful but the footy is not one of them (unless the person filming has a paedophile restraining order, or some other court order or lawful authority preventing them from doing do).

The problem isnt with them filming the games it is taking reports to the SAAFL that havent been made by the umpire and that are for minor incidents not all in brawls etc etc. Everyone knows UNI video there games so what, it isnt giving them any advantage it is just the stupidity and unsportsmen like way they are going about using the footage against other clubs.

Agree all the way with you mat but, if sides bring things up on technicalities all should be able to in reply. Not saying this is the case. All tapes that are submitted should be sanctioned by and for the league not because Tontine are the major sponsor of the opposing club in question

While we are on the Uni band wagon, we played their on the weekend. Impressed with new facilities there including their fancy new digital score board, fit with a time clock and all! As the clock counts up like at AAMI Stadium it doesn't really benefit the A grade, however with the B grade playing straight 22 minute qtrs with no time on, it does help.
That is why it was disappointing when in the last half the clock was started late and only counted up to 17 minutes and 16.5 minutes respectively. Now I am not saying that this changed the result, but you would think that if you were going to display the time you might get it right!!! Unless that is a deliberate ploy from Uni which would not suprise me.

Have the council looked at Hargreaves Reserve in Modbury Heights mate? Around the corner from my place and isn't used for anything.

I believe its been investigated in the past but the council has had less resources available probably due to the GG and TTG $$. Im under the impression Hargraves needs some work done to it before being suitable/safe? I havent been to the oval since i played U13s on it 12 years ago

However is saying that, I think the council has now the resources to properly look at the oval and is seeing what it can do for us.

You're not rattling on about that old chestnut again are ya FS ???
 no just saying why it wasnt looked at in previous years
FS, you know exactly why the council have snubbed you in the past, you cannot go to the local paper and bag the crapper out of them and then stick your hand out. Remember the lesson we learnt some years ago under a former curator, they shunned us and now with some good PR work, they love us. Word from the inside is that your drainage will be the first to be done, but who will not play there, footy or cricket, remember what happened at the Bull ring, we missed out on 3 months of cricket.

I'm a little surprised someone from Kilburn would dare cast aspersions about another club

No just the ones with unsafe car parks ;) ;)

The "car park" for Uni's oval would surely be worse. Notorious beat. People being thrown off bridges etc.

This weekends game against modbury is a MASSIVE one for flinders park. Win this and after our suprise win against TTG, we put ourselves in a reasonably good position to have a crack at the top 5! We have a very tough ask the 3 weeks after against port districts at home and then play eastern park (at EP which as we all know is never easy) and old iggies the two weeks after that. 3 wins from 4 of those games and looking at who walkerville and modbury have to play, we have a real chance of finals, something that was certainly never completely ruled out for us but was far from our minds a few weeks ago.

Umpiring skills aside, in the relatively short time I've enjoyed on this earth I have never come across a c*ck smoker like the B grade umpire I saw today at TTG. The TTG people were very hospitable but ffs, this bloke takes the cake with biased umpiring and he doesn't do too bad with the small mans syndrome either. When the TTG family I was standing near says something like "this bloke is embarassing" it gives you a good idea what was going on.

By the way, we lost and deservedly so.

Edit: I'm talking about the b grade and before NM or TBS ask, we weren't videoing the game

I am guessing that you now know what it feels like then, for every other D1 Reserve side over the many, many years, and then the D6 Reserve sides, with Malcolm "Rule Book" in charge. At that point Malcolm had changed his first name by depol, to Wes. Taste of your own medicine perhaps. A bit of deja vu coming back to haunt you. Malcolm/Wes has sustained excellence and gold medal winning form, for years and years, and not just the one game either. The old saying "those in glass houses should not throw stones"
