I wouldn't say swimming is ineffective for weight loss at all, if you went for a 2km swim each day you would be losing weight. But running and bike would be my preferred choice of cardio. My client i'm training atm hasn't actually done any running at all because of a knee recon he had 18months ago. All he has done is walking on the treadmill cross trainer and bike. But the reason he has been so successful is because he has stuck to the diet plan and has been motivated to want to lose fat.
I think Q means swimming is a highly inefficient mode to burn fat.
If running is boring you try varying the runs... Up hill Sprints Sprints uphill (painful) HIIT Fasted cardio (great fat burner)
Or
Boxing Kickboxing Skipping Plyometrics
Sometimes you need to step out of "it works best for me" mentality and try new methods and shock the body into a response.

I think it really comes down to the person and how they apply them selfs. And you don't need to get out of the "what works best for me" especially with people with a weight problem. The problem is they will get too bored or it get's too hard and they go back to where they were. Weights is the only place where the shock system works cardio is cardio. The trap people fall into with cardio is they don't push to run further or faster, to where they get to a point that there not burning enough calories.

an absolute horrid month have blown out to 117.8 no wonder havent been feeling well
Went to the Docs last week and got told in no uncertain terms especially with blood pressure and Cholesterol way up as well to do something about my weight or i will suffer the consequences
Diet has begun, all beer and chips gone, replaced by water (3 litres a day) and no snacks. At this stage doing an hour solid on an exercise bike to get started.
snacks don't have to stop mate if your feeling that your hungry and feel like a snack have a piece of celery it might take a couple of weeks to get use to but you'll get there. Green tea is good for losing fat as well.

A loss from last month probably due to cricket season starting up again. Over the last 2 months I have had a net gain of 600grams. I have been a bit slack and have lost a little bit of motivation. I've been getting home from work, sitting down and not getting back up again to get to the gym. I really need to step it up for the last 2 months to get to the goal. I'll start taking my gym stuff to work and go there on the way home. On a bright note, I made my first ever 100 in cricket during October. No way would that have been possible with the excess baggage I was carrying last season!

Nice work sherminator! Was it mostly boundaries or running between the wickets to clock up the score?
Don't know why I didn't start doing anything about the expanding guts earlier....
Since starting to weigh in at the start of august, I've dropped nearly 6kg. Just by small adjustments to what I eat and drink, and doing some exercise...
115.7 up a little but not too upset as I have been away a fair bit and have had a rather "socially rich" month. Have also bought a weight bench which is definitely toning some of the flabby bits. Will update the table in a day or two

I take green tea in supplement pill form as i can't stand drinking it. I was getting much better results when using it then when I wasn't. But Green tea isn't going to help if your diet isn't 100% and your cardio and weight program aren't 100%. celery is one way i get through my cravings as is having hungry jacks or macca's once a week as a cheat meal. You probably think i'm crazing saying having fast food once a week while on diet but you'd be surprised that by doing this you will lose more weight and stay motivated until the end.
