I think however that popularity is not being reflected in bums on seats at AAMI Stadium and the reasons why could be debated for pages and pages. Port's drop off is worse than the Crows but clearly something is going south down there.

Yeah. Football Park is ******. They should have blown the joint up years ago. Totally unlike the palatial surrounds of Cat Park where it never rains and is always warm.

Exactly blaming the stadium imho is a weak excuse and only affects fair weather supporters.

Hondo question for you.

IF (i no it will never happen but anyway) the SANFL GF was held at Noarlunga or Elizabeth and North were in it, would you attend!

I will admit i left a game early and it bit me on the arse. 2 years ago at anzac day collingwood looked home and this big fat tosser infront of me was giving us heaps, i cracked the shits and left with about 2 minutes left. As i got to the gate i heard all this cheering but before i could run back up the stairs the siren went and we had won. Was spewing but managed to give the fat tosser a spray when i saw him leaving

This happened to a mate of mine a few years back at a Port game - they were about 16 points behind with about 5 mins to go and they started to leave - only to have to rush back in to see them get up after hearing the cheers outside the ground!

Have sat through countless dull South beltings and am yet to leave early. Hell it was hard sitting through that final 30 minutes of footy last October (AFL) but I guess it had to be done.
Only 33K to the Crows game..another indication that Saturday arvo AFL is not a winner in Adelaide and probably never will be.

Im the same, i dont see the point of paying the coin if your not going to watch the full match, win, lose or draw.

Saintal, try sitting through 29th september 2007 as a power fan.....i did it, watched the full match and after match presentations, and swore to myself id never watch any footage of that match again (4 years later and still haven't seen a second of that game :) )

No chance hawk, cant hang that on us. We dont show up, thats our problem. The supporters that do show up definately dont leave at the rate of crows fans when our side is losing.

In fairness though, they don't have the same traffic problems to worry about. ;)

So the SANFL Grand Final is now the biggest footy ticket in town? Fair case to say yes...33k is embaressing to SA Footy and dont say its the stadium, what the guarantee it would happen at AO?

I often leave my seat early at FOoty Park, but stand at the back of the seats until the siren goes and then I bolt out, getting caught in West Lakes traffic rates up there with Port winning

FREE TICKETS FOR COUNTRY FOOTY CLUBS

The football team representing Country South Australia against City at AAMI Stadium this Saturday (April 23rd) should have plenty of support, with hundreds of FREE tickets distributed to local clubs.

The Port Adelaide Football Club, SANFL and AFL have joined together to provide 20 complimentary admission tickets to each of 190 SANFL-affiliated clubs across the State. It is up to local clubs to decide how they share the tickets among their players, members and supporters.

The highly-anticipated Motor Accident Commission-MAC City-Country clash follows the AFL Round 5 Port Adelaide-Gold Coast Suns contest, with the Power hosting the league’s newest team.

The tickets provide free entry for both games, along with a curtain-raiser between an Australian Defence Force team and a side representing Australia’s Combined Emergency Services.

Port Adelaide Football Club Chief Executive, Mark Haysman, said the Easter Saturday line-up represents a feast of football, especially for country people.

“With the long weekend providing an opportunity to travel, we thought it was a chance to give something back to people in country communities. We hope the offer of free tickets prompts people to make the trip to Adelaide to see the best footballers from country clubs take on the best from the city, as well as sample the thrills of the AFL contest,” Mr Haysman said.

“We are grateful for the support of the SANFL and the AFL in being able to deliver this initiative. It’s nice to be able to reward country clubs for the vital role they play in the development of community football.”

This year, the AFL Easter weekend round has added significance, as it coincides with ANZAC Day. Saturday’s contest will feature an ANZAC Day Observance Ceremony immediately before the AFL game. For the eighth year, the Peter Badcoe VC medal will be presented to the player who best exemplifies the Anzac spirit through skill, courage in adversity, self-sacrifice, teamwork and fair play.

Game times at AAMI Stadium on Saturday are:

11.45am Australian Defence Force v Aust Combined Emergency Services
2.45pm Port Adelaide v Gold Coast Suns
5.35pm Motor Accident Commission-MAC Cup State Country v City Amateur League
Right in front of me. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

Here's our solution to the dwindling crowds! Just replace the gridiron with a sherrin! These girls can play too!
