Leave him up forward and he'll be fine. He's a long way off being a decent ruckman.

he doesnt have to take contested marks, just bring it to ground for stokes, byrnes, varcoe, ablett, chappy to get the crumbing goals

Geelong did not make 4 GF's in a row, nor did they win 3 in a row. The similarities are few and far between.
Ling looked as slow as a wet week and his punch to Browns guts late in the game showed his frustration, out of character for Lingy.
Hawkins is a spud. Why keep picking him when he has no impact on the game, Jolly spot on with his comments about Hawkins being feeble in the ruck contests.
Podsiadly, I said it at about round 14, flat track bully. Will they keep him for another year or start to move on now? Throw in Lonergan and Hunt and there could be 6 or 7 blokes with question marks over their heads. Mackie must be wondering WTF?
I dont think I remember one loss offering up so many questions.
What nonsense. We were beaten by a side that has overtaken us. We have I believe three guys who are done and they are Mooney, Ottens and Milburn. Hawkins is not a spud, but neither is he a ruckman. That was a terrible call by the match committee. The poor bloke looked confused out there. Playing foward during your entire career and then attempting to take on a white hot Jolly was always going to be ugly. Pods isn't a flat track bully either. You could have had Gary Ablett Snr up forward last night and he wouldn't have gotten a kick either. Terrible delivery from the midfield as Collingwood's superior pressure and work rate meant that Pods was never allowed into the game.
Why would Mackie be wondering WTF? He has been terrible all year, a real down hill skier. Little wonder he was in the stands. Try watching Geelong instead of repeating Liegh Mathews here Booney! Last night was no mystery, this unit is done and we were beaten by the new pacesetter who should go on to win the premiership.

we are still stronger then the majority of teams in the comp
may just need to re-adjust the gameplan to tackle the teams that implement strong forward line press

Podsiadly has hardly touched it the big games thie year. See the St.Kilda and Colligwood games, clearly his best is not good enough to match with the best.Funny thing is, they ( the match comittee ) do think Hawkins is a ruckman, wouldn't have played him there last night if they didn't. Simple.
Ottens, Mooney and Milburn, yep, they are gone. Hunt and Lonergan I'm not so sure about and Ling looked to be one paced. Slow.
When you have been over taken and are no longer the best you need to figure out who can match it with the best. Plenty last night showed they no longer can.

Was sad to watch such a shuddering halt to their campaign, as I thoroughly enjoy watching Geelong. How they manage this will be a big test for all involved as will the eventual handover of coaching duties by Bomber Thompson to whoever the successor will be - another huge decision faced by the club. Sanderson would seem the frontrunner, but it will be hotly contested.

Flags. That's all that counts. No use being the best team if you can't win 'em....
