Round 22 Adelaide vs St Kilda AS Saturday August 28 3.40pm

Postby clanger » Mon Aug 23, 2010 6:32 pm

i said this before last weeks game but i will say it again.

we are a real chance to defeated St Kilda and should be favourites this week at home with the emotional of saying goodbye to some of the best players to play for the adelaide crows including the best Andrew Mcleod (340 games) and with St kilda very poor record in adelaide. I reckon we will win between 6 and 22 points and just remember we have defeated geelong at home and fremantle when there were playing well in tyson edwards farewell game.

remember to get they about 40-35 mintutes before the game for the lap of honour.

Agreed clanger, I think we are a big chance for this one. There will be a lot of emotion around the place and the youngsters are sure to be fired up not only by the retirements, but also by last weeks narrow loss.

I have a feeling the Saints might do some 'resting' this week too, will be watching the teams Thursday night with interest.

Disappointed the West v South game is on at the same time so I'll reluctantly miss it.

Think we are a massive chance with all the emotion that will be taken in to the game.

Crows by 15 pts for mine.
Go you Redbacks!

I honestly think we'll win this.

Given our performance last week, the fact that the Saints having NOTHING to play for, and the fact we're sending off so many greats.

Crows by 19.

A blueprint of what our full stength side will look like next year - only Knights to come in you would think (assuming nothing happens during trade week).

Will be interesting to see how they compete tomorrow against one of the form sides in the comp. Really looking forward to the game! :D

Cant wait to get there and see the lads have a fair dinkum crack Saturday arvo. Similar to the Geelong game i just wanna see the pressure and intensity that these kids will know they have to play with all year next season. Yes they will make mistakes but as long as the effort is there, then there is no reason we cant grab a result like the Geelong game.

I love the fact we can have so many blokes 24 years of age or under playing in the side:
Jeansch
Maric
Schmidt
Sellar
Douglas
McKay
Dangerfield
Sloane
Henderson
Walker
Tippet

Add Vince also.

Very promising, hopefully add a quality midfielder and small FWD and we are set for a few years of rapid growth

Great game last night. Hard to really assess it though as it seems by Ross Lyon's press conference they put the cue in the rack after 3 quarter time. Still a superb effort to still be in the match at that stage of the game and force the Saints into preservation mode. Great pressure, and you could see the confidence of the young players growing.

Brodie Martin was the highlight for me - 28 possessions in only his 5th game, and very few were cheapies on the half back line. In the 3rd term in particular he seemed to be everywhere. I think we might have unearthed a real gem there.

Walker and Tippett worked well in tandem last night as well, their goal kicking just let them down a bit as has been the case all year. That aside, I really do see them building a Lloyd/Lucas type combo up forward in the next couple of years.

All in all that match gave me exactly what I was after - optimism that next year we will continue onwards and upwards without the champions we farewelled last night.

Can't wait to see what these young fellas can come up with in 2011 with another preseason under the belt! :D

Good summary GN, fully agree on all points. If we can get 90% of the list through next pre-season and have 40 to pick from instead of 28 we'll obviously be in a better position to compete on weekly basis. If yesterday was anything to go by then the future does like bright.

Was the highlight of the game for me also. Looked very slow first game back against the Bulldogs but did not miss a beat saturday! Well done Brodie!
