Re: WEIGHT LOSS + the challenge

Trying cut out some carbs???

Try boiled cabbage instead of pasta!!!

You will not notice the difference!!!
I use Zucchini (I have a gadget that cuts it so it comes out like pasta) or spinach or cauliflower rice. Cauliflower is the most versatile vegetable ever! I make pizza bases and wraps out of it and mash to put on top of shepherds pie or vegetable bakes.

Definitely agree on the carbs. We eat way more than we need.

I follow the paleo way of eating, which basically means no grains. It is also not just about eating meat like people often think. If it's good enough for Gary Ablett and LeBron James, then it's good enough for me!

Re: Aus v Ind Test Series

Someone suggested on FIVEaa that the SACA allow all memberships to be transferable for the game to maximise attendance. They have said it would be a logistical nightmare. How? All that happens is a member gives there card to someone else. It just means that id checks don't need to be performed. What is logistically hard about that? Most supporters and members have been very understanding about the change, it would be nice to repay that understanding.

They don't and have never wanted the riff raff to get into the members :)

Basically the only reason why you wouldn't have transferable tickets
Plenty of riff raff that have memberships. They have a dress code so the riff raff will blend in.

Re: I need to know....

I'd like to know, If Peanut Butter is so popular, why hasn't anyone tried to make and market Cashew Butter?

You can make your own nut butters with a good blender or food processor. Just chuck the nuts in and blend away until it becomes a paste consistency.

If you're looking for a relatively healthy dessert try throwing a frozen banana, a couple of tablespoons of almond butter or cashew butter, some honey and cacao powder (or you can use cocoa powder) in a blender. Banana and chocolate soft serve.

Re: Rnd 4 - Central v Eagles @ Playford Alive (Sat 25/4)

Eagles looked good. They use the ball very well. We on the other hand cannot seem to hit a target with a kick or a handball. If you turn it over against the Eagles their rebound is good and will hurt on the scoreboard.

Centrals once again showed they can have as much play but just the skill level is letting us down at the moment and also the forward line hasn't quite worked itself out yet with Retzlaff out.

One sour point of the day was that Centrals were charging veterans to get in! My Dad came down after the march and was asked to pay, along with a few others. The club say they were not told by the SANFL that servicemen and ex-servicemen got in for free. Complete cop out if you ask me. How many ANZAC day games have we played in over the last 15 years? Anyway the club are aware of the error and there are a few veterans that they owe an apology and a couple of beers to. Not acceptable to be treating veterans like that on ANZAC day.

He applied for the MFS in November. He only found out this week that he had been accepted. Ken Hinkley wrote his reference for the MFS and is quite happy to be supporting him. If people haven't listened to the press conference I suggest you do, both Ken and Kane explain everything. It was the club that wanted Kane to play his 300th.

Jake Parkinson apparently rang up and blasted Kris Grant after reading his comments in the Advertiser this week. Of course Kris blasted him right back. I didn't read the article in question but apparently it was creatively edited and wasn't what Kris Grant had said. Anyway after the Channel 9 story ran Jake had to ring back Kris and apologise.

Re: Rnd 9 - Central v Port @ Playford Alive (Sat 6/6)

If someone had told me before the game we'd lose by 8 I would have taken it, given the team that Power Reserves had today. However the game should have been over with at half time. We had so many more scoring shots.

Port played like thugs in the first half. They were extremely undisciplined and probably lucky the umpires didn't see everything they did. Eugene Warrior had more game time as the runner than he ever did during his playing career. How Port continually get away with this I don't know.

I don't know why I go to reserves games, I just get angry.

Oh but they have in the past. Otherwise we would still have slavery in the USA and Indigenous Australians wouldn't be able to vote. Those minority communities did indeed ask the law to be changed and so they should, they were being discriminated against.

Re: Things that make you laugh

Had a laugh with a friend last night about the whole gay marriage stuff (lets not get started with that)

The thought was why not create a new act that gives all the same rights as marriage but have it specifically for LGBT people (considering they have distinguished themselves i dont see this as an issue). If that happened then there wpuld also need to be a new name for it and he came out with something that isnt worth repeating but theb it dawned on me, they can get Garried... quite simple really...

His name is Garry. He hated it!

I am failing to see how they have distinguished themselves.
I did want to avoid this so let's not huh... i was just laughing at a mate...

However, titling themselves as 'LGBT community' distinguishes them from those that are not, does it not?

That means lots of people are distinguishing themselves. The disabled community, the Greek Community, the African Community and I could go on. Do we change what we call marriage for them because they have 'distinguished' themselves from others. Everyone belongs to some kind of community that distinguishes themselves from others.

What a stupid and flawed argument.

Now people are just booing because everyone else is, which makes those people idiots without any brains to think for themselves.

I also don't buy the "he stages for frees", "he's a sniper" argument either. How many other players that stage for frees or snipe get systematically booed with so much hatred?

I understand that people boo players all the time, but it stops after the game is over and is forgotten about by the next game. This is not stopping so either people are being sheep and just following the crowd or it is about more than what he is doing on the ground. If you're booing for either of those reasons then you're an idiot.

Re: Sydney Swans 2015

I might be controversial here, but the AFL and general populous have now determined that boo-ing anyone coloured is racist. I noted too that Harry O (formerly known as) was booed by Collingwood supporters, but yet nothing mentioned. Why?

Because it's all about 'Adam Goodes' not race. If it was about race why don't the other 70odd indingious players get booed? Answer because there not Dicks!

Maybe people don't want imaginary spears chucked at them, Just like Adam doesn't want to be booed????

Adam doesn't want to get booed yep, fair call.

Well don't call Australia Day 'invasion day' for a start amount a huge list of 'other' provocative acts. You provoke people they will react.

I've never Booed, I don't see the point in it but, this whole situation should be laughable but it can't be now as the level it has reached.

Re: Port v Centrals Alberton 2.10 Saturday

I went and didn't think there was anywhere near 1500 people there. It was easily the smallest crowd I have seen this year.

As for the game, again we didn't play bad. Just missing a target up forward and our best midfielder. The umpiring was terrible. One in particular had a shocker. Jess Palmer for Port is going to seriously injure himself if he keeps ducking the way he does. While umpires continue to give players free kicks for ducking they will continue to do it though.

Re: Doctors attending SANFL matches

Centrals don't have a club Doctor at the moment, which has caused some issues. I think Corey Reichert had to go to a clinic during the reserves game at Norwood to get a dislocated finger put back in. He came back and came back on in the second half. Then on Saturday Jarrod Schiller sustained a nasty cut to his head and the Port doctor refused to help. He also had to find a clinic to get fixed up. .

Obviously the best thing to do would be for Centrals to get themselves a club doctor and not rely on others, but you would think/hope if there was anything serious the opposition club doctor would help. I wouldn't expect much for a cut though.
Perhaps Jarrod could have grabbed his wallet and pulled out his power membership - may have been enough to get him patched up.

Thanks for the advice. Highly qualified, I'm sure. You'd assume the club has been trying damn hard to get a club doctor and hasn't been able to find someone with the time to commit. Unfortunate. Possibly a sign of the times?
Yep, the club have been trying all year to find a Doctor with no luck.

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

We hear a lot that it is the weather this season, so I thought I would see if I could compare the seasons. I just went through the BOM stats for all the game days for last season and this season up until Round 16.

In 2014 we had 119.8 mm of rain and this season 95.8 mm up until Round 16.

There have been 17 game days with rain so far this season and last season up until the same point there had been 16.

The average temp in 2014 up until Round 16 was 19.8°C and in 2015 17.7°C.

Re: The 2015 Attendance Comparisons Thread

Now we have Rucci on Twitter saying the SANFL is fantastic and all hail the reserves sides and that the crowd in one game on the weekend proves that it's a success.

I am sick of getting told how much I should be enjoying a product by people that don't even buy or have an interest in buying that product.

It seems the SANFL would prefer to listen to people that admire the SANFL from afar than those that actually still attend the games. How exactly are those people generating income for the SANFL clubs?

Re: Power and Crows Players that have Qualified for Finals

Sam Gray and Kane Mitchell will only be eligible if they get dropped from the Power this weekend.
Mitchell was dropped last week
Then I guess he can play, but if Power select him this week then he won't be able to play the remaining finals.

http://www.sanfl.com.au/news/sanfl_news/3153/

It is ridiculous. This week is SANFL finals, if they haven't qualified prior then they shouldn't be able to play this week even if dropped. A final should not count as a qualifying game if the AFL team is not in the finals.

EDIT: Sorry I read it wrong they have already qualified so the final would not count to the number of games played in SANFL.

http://www.theroar.com.au/2015/09/01/debate-fremantle-resting-players-nonsense/comment-page-5/#comment-4273387

An interesting take on it in this article:

"There has been some talk about Peel Thunder, Fremantle’s connector club in the WAFL, and how they’re going to be playing their first final this weekend, but will now have almost no chance to win it.

Well, for supporters of Peel, and the players and officials involved….we don’t get everything we want in this world, and sometimes life just isn’t fair. Tough."

He's right, of course. Doesn't mean it's right.

Its an interesting read. Peel have been a basket case in the WAFL for years and are basically only competitive because of the now link with Fremantle .. Its not a great look for the comp no doubt, but its happening, and could well happen here.. The logistical nightmare being that the seasons don't line up.. As in, had it been the last round of the WAFL and not a final then its still less than ideal, but not as big of an issue
Could easily change the names to Magpies and Power.

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

Checking the scores is one thing, but actually attending SANFL games to see how Crows players performed is another. I can't see how checking score updates pre or post the inclusion of AFL reserves teams influences or explains the trend of less people putting their arses on an SANFL seat.

I meant that as only one form of interest. Seeing AFL players in the SANFL was/is clearly a driver of interest in the comp, along with many other more important drivers, but I was just thinking that it has also had a small effect.

The love and respect needs to go both ways. Members and supporters feel let down by their clubs. Their voices were dismissed when they raised their concerns and they are still being dismissed. Would you continue having a relationship with someone that always dismissed your opinions and concerns?

yep fair point.

serious question - do you guys feel like your opinions were ignored? Or that they were heard but dismissed?

I don't because my club voted NO. If they hadn't would I still be going to the SANFL? Not sure.

Re: The never ending No AFL in the SANFL whinge thread

Although Rucci is being deliberately provocative, I think there is one point he makes which does make a little bit of sense.

It is completely fair enough that a lot of people feel like their passion for the comp has been diminished because of the introduction of the Reserves teams, but complaining that crowds are down and will continue to go down and then not showing up yourself creates a self fulfilling prophecy.

SANFL teams arguably need their supporters more than ever, so I think a few of you are having a bet each way by complaining that crowds are going down, but yet not going yourself either, even to non reserves games.

Now a few of you probably arent reading this sentence because you are already frothing at the mouth, but I think there is also another reason why interest might be down. It has probably been mentioned before, but seeing how the crows players went at SANFL clubs was a reason for me to keep interested. I used to check the scores of the random norwood game just to see how the crows lads have went.

Now I only have to go and check the crows reserves score (along with the centrals score too).

The love and respect needs to go both ways. Members and supporters feel let down by their clubs. Their voices were dismissed when they raised their concerns and they are still being dismissed. Would you continue having a relationship with someone that always dismissed your opinions and concerns?

The competition doesn't stop being compromised when two non-reserves sides play. There are still 2 reserves sides playing on the same day. They don't just disappear. I don't even understand how this can be used as an argument. It completely misses the point of the entire Anti-AFL Reserves argument and is just a clutching at straws exercise by those that follow the Crows and Power that have a direct benefit from the Reserves inclusion.

If my Club had voted YES, I'm not sure I could give them my blind loyalty. I also know how hard Kris Grant is working to get change, so I feel I owe the club some loyalty. However that loyalty will be tested if changes are not at least made to Ports model. At a minimum I expect them in under the same model as the Crows. This means no home games, no Academy side and they pay the fee of $400000.

Well done, Westies.
In the opening minutes I thought we were settling nicely and had a chance of doing this thing.
The Bloods then turned on the warm jets and were off to the races.
Our shortage of KPP's, plus our frantic run into the finals and two strong-willed major round matches finally took their toll.
Westies were far too good and never gave us a sniff.
Loved the atmosphere on the hill, great to hear the vocal support going even after it was all done and dusted.
It's been a lot of fun this season, as the lads have climbed a lot higher than was expected. Great signs for next year.
