I think NHCC I made 140 odd.

As for NHCC II we're waiting on the belair result to know... we're 2nd, could slide to 3rd

Morphies up over Sth Rd, 176 to 108.

Must have been an exciting day at Hackham  , plympton taking 84.1 overs to hit 141. I guess a wins a win though.

Umpires only have to remember two things at the most for a game of cricket. 1 - Counter.
2 - Match Ball :?

Sect 2 - Sheidow made 180 or there abouts and rolled Belair for about 165 i think.

Might add in Sect 1 Coro just bowled good areas all day and Sheidow did not play to the situation at all. Too many guys not valuing wickets.

Full credit to Coro on the way they played the day out, despite us thinking we had done well to keep them to 67 off 15 today. Sam Foster took 5 for today and was definitely the pick of our bowlers. In 1st dig only 2 batsmen made double figures and in 2nd if wasnt for Foster we would have lost outright (especially being a batter down). Lesson learnt for a lot of guys but clearly beaten by a better team and one that deserves to be playing finals.

My take on the section 1 finalists.

Keswick.

Very good bowling line-up who can restrict sides to small totals and is unlikely to have a 250+ score hit against it.

Will rely on McKay and R Curyer to get them a big total but have enough batting to get a 200+ score without a huge contribution from those two. Face a tough task with the inform Coromandel in the semis this week.

Have lost to WYC and Glenelg and only narrowly beat Coromandel. They have the confidence of knowing their best is good enough to beat everyone.

WYC

Bowling is our weakness but something Hopkins can single handedly change as he did in last years GF. Other bowlers are wicket takers but we lack consistency from them. Capable of bowling sides out cheaply but also can concede a 250+ score.

Batting is our strength but it isn't as strong as we would have liked with Luders unavailable due to surgery on his hip. Confident we can chase down scores of 250. Jake Whenan and Richard Press are vitally important to our fortunes.

We have beaten 2 of the top 4 sides and got belted outright by the other. Confident we can turn around our poor finals record against the bays.

Glenelg ANA

Bowling is very good. O'Malley and Rowe are very clever bowlers and have good back up from Goodrich, Zuvela and Jacomas. Are more than capable of skittling any batting line-up for 150.

Batting is strong at the top of the order but early wickets will really have the bays in trouble. That being said if Basso and Rowe get set then there is a fair chance you will be chasing a large total against a good attack.

Has beaten two of the 3 top 4 sides so will be confident they can get the job done.

Coromandel

The bolter of season 09/10. Bowling is their obvious strength with three quality quicks who seem to have all got their acts together since christmas. Lourens is their key bowler.

Batting isn't superb and if Cheek and Koirala go cheaply they are unlikely to make a big total. Cheek is the key with the bat.

Will be super confident having beaten 1 top 4 side outright and having very narrow losses to the other two.

My tips for the first week of finals are Keswick and WYC in two very close matches. I wouldn't think the gap in either game would be greater than 30 runs or 2 wickets.

Good luck to everyone competing and good luck to all the other grades in their finals.

Now with the season 2009/2010 finished and the real stuff about to begin i thought i'd leave a comment on the top 10 performers with the Bat for the season plus some other mentions to others.

Player Club MAT INN NO 100s 50s 0s HS RUNS AVE. STR.
1 Basso, Steff Glenelg ANA 11 16 4 1 3 0 114 491 40.92

Super year for Bass. Opened the batting and Captained ANA equally well, giving them the opportunity to push for the flag. A worthy winner of the Section 1 Batting trophy. Made 14 and 54 against us.

2 Mackay, Heath Keswick 11 11 3 2 2 0 139* 481 60.13
Great year after coming back from a season playing turf. Proved his worth to Keswick by making 3 hundreds. Unlucky to miss out on the trophy. Made 70 against us.

3 McRae, Steve J Westminster Old Scholars 11 13 1 0 3 0 71* 429 35.75
Another good year from him, having to carry WOS batting. Also took 15 wickets at 24 in a joint Opening batsman/ opening bowler role. Made 15 against us.

4 Hopkins, Robert C Western Youth Centre 11 12 1 0 3 0 84 398 36.18
Another super year for the little man, a star of the ASCA and showed it again. Also took 28 wickets at 13 and will strongly push for the Hewett medal. Scored 13 against us (super catch to dismiss him :D ).

5 Cheek, Samuel R Coromandel 9 10 1 1 2 0 111 395 43.89.
Cheeky stepped up again this season and is fast becoming one of the genuine stars of the ASCA. Also took 19 wickets at 13 in a glowing display. Played the least games on the list (9) and made only 5 against us.

6 Brokensha, Ross M Morphettville Park 11 12 2 1 1 0 103* 382 38.20
Sorry lads don't know much about him. Made only 6 against us so thats probably why.

7 Rowe, Daniel L Glenelg ANA 10 11 0 0 4 1 72 369 33.55
Along with Robbie, he also is a star of the ASCA and will again push strongly for the medal. Also took 32 wickets at 15 . Scored a Duck against us getting a great delivery to dismiss him :D .

8 Woodward, Kym Morphettville Park 11 12 0 0 3 1 87 350 29.17
Comments about his ego aside, Kym had a solid year for Morphys and appears to have a good technique. Looked good against us making 87.

9 Hartlett, Adam South Road 10 10 1 1 2 0 122 327 36.33
A good year Harts after coming back to SA. He is a very talented sportsman and showed it. Scored a well made 58 against us and gave us a scare before he succumbed to the Hartlett injury curse.

10 Koirala, Jai Coromandel 11 12 2 1 1 1 118 324 32.40
Started with a bang scoring 118 against way back in round 2 and then tapered towards the end of the season before making 80 last game. A solid year for Jai

Others to note;
CK (308 runs at 28) and Benny Mac (305 at 34). Hope to see there form continue into the finals.

Russ Curyer (289 at 26) Another solid year for Rusty.

Terry "Moose" Martin (289 at 24 and 16 wickets at 12.5) . An excellent year for the big man after coming up to play A grade. A worthy winner of our Batting trophy and perhaps our B and F (hope hes still got space to fit more trophies in his cabinet :D)

Dave Sampson (284 at 28 and 15 wickets at 21: Always going to be around the mark every year.

And my tip for the GF, WYC to beat Keswick by 30 runs to go back to back.

Is that because the 20 odd he made yesterday wasn't included in TDN's stats?

A very worthy winner. The guy can bat. 500-odd runs in 12 hits is a great effort, especially with 3 not-outs, so plenty of scope for more.

South roads last game of the year vs morphies was a very spiteful game. Thought we were going to see a mid pitch punch on at one stage. It was also the last section 1 game for Darren Williams and Poul Peterson who both have decided to retire from the a's. Club legends who have given 20+ years service to the association including a number of association games thru the 90's. They will still play on next season but will be looking to play c's or maybe b's.

Does not suprise me in the slightest that there is bad feeling between us & South Road. We have a few blokes who are never short of a comment & South Road have given us plenty of ammo over the past couple of seasons with their arrogant & elitest attitude towards us.
Maybe they can take down the "Back to Back" A grade flags sign from their training nets now!

arrogant and elitest attitude towards u blokes? Good joke. And over the past coupleof seasons?? Pretty sure u blokes were in section 2 last year so don't see how that works. Ur mob is full of blokes with big mouths that have hardly done anything to back it up.
Our 'back to back' sign will remain on our nets, a coupleof bad seasons is no reason to forget history.
