Im not 100 % certain who the mens ref is but i do believe if Anto,s back is not right for the occasion we are about to have our first Hannigan Cup final where the ref doesnt give a signal when making a decision. Just a whistle and a direction. Whilst frustrating to players it does add to the suspense and unpredictability of the event for the spectators.
Swooper i hope you wash the cup b4 you give it back. Its had a hard life and seen things you could not even imagine....or perhaps you can imagine!
Finally does anyone know if that ludicrous rule that was handed down from the australasian body still exists...Something like the club and the association will be fined thousands if anyone drinks from the cup. I remember at the time it first came in holes were meant to be drilled in all cups. I never new if it was enforced or got thrown out or what was the story. perhaps ono could shed some light on that one.

It really comes down to a player or two grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck and kicking a bag of scores. I actually wouldn't be surpirsed to see this one go into extra time. Especially if wristy is the ref...

the ankle happened in second half right near the Na Fianna Goals think jolly fell across his ankle. he limped off over the back sideline. In a moon boot now. No Mystery about it. the young lad plays for Mt Lofty and looks like been out for the entire year.

Not good. Nothing turns players off Gaelic more than injuries that interrupt winter sports.

Good thinking Swooper, that $2 worth of ribbon umongst 50 people is a reduction of $0.04 per person!
Every journey starts with a single step i guess.

Can anyone confirm why there is so much of a rush to get things done by this wknd? Ie. clubs nominating board positions.
I know our mens side hasn't completed this yet, however as a reward for the work the comittee does the Na Fianna gaelic football club may just nominate one Bruno Rocca. I'm sure the comittee would appreciate his contributions.

Yeah I do remember something about that but it only applied to the Australasian Championships - I don't think it was meant to be enforced everywhere. Some rules people just ignore anyway - that ranks as one of them.

So what did they do instead?? - Just banned having a Presentation Dinner at the end of the Ch'ships!!! Wowsers. Looks like the Ban's only lasted one year. Anyway, if you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Have to admit though that the reasons for doing so were true. One year, as a selector for the Australasian Women's team (Perth 99), some NSW chicks threw a JUG across the room at me and MISSED. Funny.

Anyway - about Sunday's games. I reckon the Taints are better than last year and can account for the Goats to go Back to Back. Anyone know who the Ref is yet? My phone hasn't rung. Surely has to be Anto or TJ.

In the Women, I'd love to see the Crusaders win, but will be tough.

Word on the street is the refs will be Anto or Tommy "I love giving nicknames" Javor. Nae will be doing the girls...phew!

I think it is funny that the reason being used for the end of the Australasian teams is the threats of violence against selectors. In Adelaide they were confronted by some SA people but they were asked legitimate questions that they could not answer. I believe some Vic boys were very angry about their full back that year not making the team. He was close to the best player of the week and we actually tagged him, yes tagged a full back, in the GF and still could not stop him. He was very similar to Burgo but would actually set up most of their attacks after he won the ball. A phenom. He even had John Flo gasping. The issue with the teams was the selection. They never, ever got it right. Not once. No better example than 2000 in Adelaide when Bruno Rocca received his minor medal an hour after the rest of the team when they realised they hadn't picked enough! We had a kid also make that team who saw 5mins of game time the whole week. No wonder people lose it.

As for the dinners thenselves, the rip off merchants piss people off too. Put these aggravations and alcohol together and you create dangerous situations.

Bottom line is get it right and you have nothing to worry about.

YES, curly haired full back was awesome (i cant believe i dont know his name). Apart from Mick Finn was the 2nd best Gaelic footy player at all levels at the nationals that year. He was not as good as Glenn Gordon but was without doubt arguably as good a defender the GAA has seen in the last 20 years.

GLENN GORDON.Can anybody name a better defender in GAELIC FOOTBALL history at any levels????
For arguments sake :
Peter Henderson was as Chris "Froggy" Browne once said "a guy who would give his life for SA" in mens footy during the 80,s.
Terry "Cherry Bomb" Kager from Flinders did win and VC SA to 3 x National titles in a row as a half back flankeR. WOOP WOOP!!!!
Michelle "Best SA PLAYER in 09" Reid one day may challenge at her current rate.
Costa "MANCHILD" STEFANIDIES.... 3 X National Australasian Selection.2000,03 and 04. Shit was that even the years you made the national team Costa?????
Dale "Mr Smother" Osborne...Actions speak louder than words and for any one in this association who has done anything. DO MORE THAN OZ!!!!! 333
Robbie O Callaghan as a minor footballer was an awesome defender, the equal to any minor footballer i have seen at that age.

An in case anyone wants my tip....Western Ireland will win the Hannigann cup by between 3-6 points tommorrow.
Good luck DAVE and ANDREW.
West Ireland Crusaers get my kiss of death. 1-5. PURPLE COWBOY to make sunday 7/3 a date to remember as he puts another niche on the post as the dude who made Gaelic cool and can coach at any level!!!
A purple and green lovin machine double...GOD help us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now your screwed as i have tipped it Goats and Crusaders

Just wanna confirm that the Titans did not steal, withhold or destroy any cups.......
The only club to win all 3 cups in a year and a club that for all its errors did provide the top 2 vote getters in the league this year and made mistakes but also made the standard of Gaelic Football in SA AWESOME....

The Taints recorded a 3.11 (20) to 1.16 (19) victory, after being as many as 8 points down halfway thru the last half. Back to back baby!

Also i wish we had a Church equivalent here in Adelaide - coz thats where we would head to!! I think our closest comparison is probably the Woolshed... i might ring them and find out when they open!! :drinkers:
