Starting to get a little excited..!! Still got the Hannigan Cup residing on the bar at home....dont really wanna give her back to be honest.
Im not 100 % certain who the mens ref is but i do believe if Anto,s back is not right for the occasion we are about to have our first Hannigan Cup final where the ref doesnt give a signal when making a decision. Just a whistle and a direction. Whilst frustrating to players it does add to the suspense and unpredictability of the event for the spectators.
Swooper i hope you wash the cup b4 you give it back. Its had a hard life and seen things you could not even imagine....or perhaps you can imagine!
Finally does anyone know if that ludicrous rule that was handed down from the australasian body still exists...Something like the club and the association will be fined thousands if anyone drinks from the cup. I remember at the time it first came in holes were meant to be drilled in all cups. I never new if it was enforced or got thrown out or what was the story. perhaps ono could shed some light on that one.
Yeah I do remember something about that but it only applied to the Australasian Championships - I don't think it was meant to be enforced everywhere. Some rules people just ignore anyway - that ranks as one of them.
So what did they do instead?? - Just banned having a Presentation Dinner at the end of the Ch'ships!!! Wowsers. Looks like the Ban's only lasted one year. Anyway, if you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.
Have to admit though that the reasons for doing so were true. One year, as a selector for the Australasian Women's team (Perth 99), some NSW chicks threw a JUG across the room at me and MISSED. Funny.
Anyway - about Sunday's games. I reckon the Taints are better than last year and can account for the Goats to go Back to Back.
Anyone know who the Ref is yet? My phone hasn't rung. Surely has to be Anto or TJ.
In the Women, I'd love to see the Crusaders win, but will be tough.
