Bayman, you keep thinking that if it pleases you....but I think your post is a great description of SA's other AFL "club".

Why keep the Power part, would be the worste part of the name, drop the Power keep Port Adelaide and call yourselves the Dolphins or something else and i'd be tempted to join.....Power...come on...seriously i still can't believe that was the best name out of the choices they had.

Im sure the Crows would love the fact they have a new rival called the Adelaide Power. Im sure that doesnt create any cross promotional issues or anything at all.

In fact, maybe the Adelaide Power should drop the Power monker and call them the Adelaide Ravens. Im sure having a black bird similar to the states emblem would only bring people through the door.

What "nickname" choices did they have for the Power when they joined the AFL?

as i said in another thread:

- the Crows won't let another team be called "Adelaide" and rightly so
- it's too late to quarantine off a geographic area in SA for an AFL side. What about Port supporters who live north or Crows supporters who live south?
- ask the NMFC if it's a good idea to drop your geographic name in an attempt to win wider support
In between signatures .....

Elizabeth and Salisbury are located pretty much centrally in the whole Adelaide Plains.

Its not an error.

Depends what definition of the Adelaide Plains you use, do a google search and you'll see what I mean as most of them more popular have Elizabeth and Salisbury nowhere near the middle. I can only browse select sites from work but couldn't find one that Elizabeth and Salisbury near the middle.

PS They should have been called the Pirates!

??? Hmm the NAFC - officially established in 1893 when the suburbs would not have gone much past Enfield and even into the early 60's anything North of Gepps Cross was considered country so we were and still are NORTH of Adelaide but excuse us for not changing our name when Centrals entered the comp or were formed in 1959! They should have been North Adelaide and we should have been maybe: JLBNAFC - Just a little bit North of Adelaide FC!

For the record i voted 'port adelaide' but only because i like having them as the official enemy. whether or not they make any money (or survive) is someone elses concern

What about the Port Adelaide Possums? Why? Because they get killed on the road and play dead at home.
