One day you too will be a wise man not a silly young boy.

Ever heard that old bull and young bull story JB? If not you should get someone to tell it to you.

the day its too hot for me bloods will be the day im sitting under a tree watching my kids play, by then though they would have made it 25+ degrees and the game gets cancelled

I hope this site is still running in 10 years time when an older and wiser JB is promoting cricket be called off at 38. :D ;) .

This coming from a bloke who is going to England to play cricket, obviously too hot in Australia for you  ;)

That is a very soft statement because I remember that day and it just happend that you were playing the Ramblers at WYC. It also happened to be that you blokes were sitting in the shade watching while your batsmen demolished a "thirsty" Ramblers attack. We'd made 210 the prior week and you blokes knocked them over not much after tea I reckon. I recall "running" in from the southern end and attempting to bowl into a strong northerly.

I don't reckon that day was too hard on you!

That day was the reason for the original 42C heat rule (which was still a joke mind you). 40C I'm comfortable with - particularly in section 1 (lower grades I'd be in favour of a 38C rule).

You assumed wrong AF. I played against south pk in section 3 at their oval which didn't have a blade of grass on it. We fielded most of the day, it wasn't fun.

I don't think suggesting a lower heat policy is "soft" I think it comes from those who realise cricket isn't the most important thing in life, how times change I know :). I think at our level of cricket we need to take a responsible approach to our playing conditions and consider the wide ranges of physical condition that our players have.

In that case ignore my whole story

And RB, that day at Morphy Parks I bowled more overs than yourself. The difference being you bowled one long spell and i did it in 3 spells (captain's privilege). I do agree with the 'unfairness' of playing in heat.

I actually agree with CK. 39 is fine on its own for a day, but in a heatwave it takes its toll. Perhaps if the 2 days preceding a game are 38 or hotter, the temp cut-off should reduce to 38. Makes things a bit more complicated but I'd agree to it. Tho to keeps things simple I can't see anything changing except temp cut off.

Just checked the BOM, there is only one more update at 5:15am tomorrow, but after the last update 10 minutes ago, its still forecast for 39 and therefore the game will go ahead. Forecast 40 for elizabeth, so there is still a chance for us to get cancelled i guess!

You dont hear much from me on here any more, and after this you wont again, hopefully.

But the captains have a duty of care to all players on the field, not just thier own players, to make sure that the game, and its players are protected. I hear from old heads around our club that played back when the association had no heat rule, and they played as did i during this time, but even they say that the heat now is different to what it was back then, maybe rudd's right!

a forecast 39deg tomorrow will bring end of day scores of all out for 80 v 4/30, or all out 60 v 8/50 etc etc, after the days play on reflection can anyone honestly say that it was a great days play, more often than not you will shake your head.

90% of people that play cricket work during the week, wether it be in the office or out in the full face of the sun. So by the time they take the field, after the week we've just had, the body is tired, un-fit, un-healthy. Are any of us bigger men for playing in the heat, some would say "beating the heat"? i dont think so. In my and most people's view we're stupider than most others that stayed indoors!

The argument that cricket, or sport in general should be called off once the temperature gets past the core body temp is not a silly one, although it will never make the handbook.

Good luck to everybody tomorrow, i've always been a huge advocate for common sense in these conditions, and acting accordingly. I certainly hope that a lot of the lower grades in ASCA make the correct descision and play a 1 day match next week.

Best of luck to all.

Go Plympton.

Did i hear correct that ur captain was going to bowl if you won the toss anyways, because of Hopkins not playing next week ...

great days play by WYC 353 out in the 69th over!

Congrats to Shirvo Wright, first A grade game since our lost to SR in the Gf 2 years ago, with a wicket in his first over.

Nah wub. It was Chris Allen a very entertaining knock though. Hit a few big sixes.

No chance we would have won the toss and fielded. It was discussed but not a real option for obvious reasons. Must say that I've rarely felt as crap after a days cricket as today. Each Ramblers team that batted dominated, each team that fielded got smashed. Funny about that.
