Here are the stats this decade
Please note some of the Test matches in this era may have been days shorter on completion
But its a guide to what could be expected when the itinerys are made up
YEAR.....TESTS......ODIS.....20/20.......MAXIMUM DAYS IF PLAYED
2000......08...........23.........0............63
2001.....14............21.........0............91
2002.....11............29.........0............84
2003.....12............35.........0............95
2004.....14............26.........0............96
2005.....15............29.........2............105
2006.....10............29.........2............80
2007.....04............34.........9............58.5
2008.....14............18.........2............89
2009.....13............41.........9............109.5
20/20 games have been included as half a day games
There is a correlation between the recent spate of injuries compared to injuries of past seasons
That is the 41 ODIs and also the 9 20/20 games played so far in 2009
AU has been scheduled a staggering 109 maximum days of cricket
And we still have 4 tests scheduled in 2009, and a maximum possibilty of 20 days of cricket
That would equate to an aMAYZing 129.5 maximum days

The almost non stop immediate backing up of games this year has exposed the fragility of some of the players fitness and injury levels
Some will say that some players have had unlucky finger injuries etc
How some players are not selected in all forms of the game
Quite rightly so
However my thoughts are the more you play, and backing up in a short span of time= increased probabilty of fatigue and injuries
It happens with some horse, some greyhounds, so why should it not apply to some humans
Perhaps the reason AU have just beaten IN in a ODI series in the haven of hell is that we had to select a fresher batch of cricketers
