Not Scared wrote:Renmark definitely out now. A massive shame for the competition. I only hope they get their s**t together, which will probably involve scrapping that Renmark District Comp, and come back in with a long term plan to stay in very soon. Tony Victor is not happy apparently, but at the same time relieved that he doesn't have to continue trying to hold together a cricket club without too much assistance.

It's pretty hard to see a 4 team comp as a legitimately good one, and I think we should be working on getting at least 6 in there, as well as much more 2 day cricket.

How we get to 6 teams without Renmark is a bit of a tough one, but I would suggest, as was the idea with the footy a while back, joining up with some Mallee teams, or even Mid Murray teams (if they are good enough). With lots of teams involved you could even get a bit of a conference system going to reduce the travel a bit.

I'll be interested to hear people's thoughts, and see how much of this gets ripped to shreds.

I can guarantee you now NS, the Renmark District comp won't get scrapped.
But I think the structure put in place with the Renmark North Colts will see a return to A grade ranks sooner rather than later for Renmark.
Hopefully this is a step in the right direction for Renmark, cos I agree with you NS, the RTCA definitely needs more than 4 teams.

Didn't get to bat, but had a bowl and felt good.
Tim Arnold also bowled well despite busting his wrist earlier this year.
Good numbers out there again, pity we didn't start cricket though, the weather was immaculate. It'll probably be raining this weekend. Lol.
Last year it was 37 degrees from memory, the food and winies got pissed on two glasses.

Speaking to a couple of renmark blokes last week about the A grade comp and from what was said i can understand why Renmark can't fill an A grade side. Simply because majority of the blokes are to slack and dont want to travel around the Riverland on a hot saturday to have a hit. They would rather play socially in the district comp and have a beer and play with and against their mates.

Berri went down to Waikerie yesterday. Some good batting from Valentine (48no) got them to 180, although he was dropped a few times. Waikerie bowled well, and got us by 22 runs.

What happened at Loxton? All out for 55 I hear.

Good to hear. Can play. Will Berri see much of him, with his trip to Japan coming up and a move to Mt Gambier. From what I gather he is happy to play A grade at Berri but doesnt particularly want to train to do it.
