Get another premership medal I suppose.
Get a kick?
Well I guess Dutsche will be getting a few more kicks on Sunday than those 5 Glenelg players that got select

As stated above, the coaches vote on it themselves! Nothing to do with where they finish.
I am saying it should be changed

why should it be?
this team is based on performances from the minor round so that all players are judged fairly - why should the coach be selected any differently?

to me it is obvious roy coach of the decade norman coach of the year as it is his first season were did the sturt supporters honestly think they finish at end of minor round prior to the season starting the sturt supporters i no said they wouldnt make finals how wrong were they mickan is a joke we played 2 finals he was clearly out coached in both finals to me there is no point in winning all those games for no result

I think you may be the only Bays fan to have this kind of feeling there mate...
Mark Mickan didn't make the players kick innaccurately during the finals, which is what essentially cost the Bays a chance at the flag...

I would put that down to smart coaching, Laird knows what is required for September/October, thing is if they lose this week surely Norman should be Coach of the year because of what he has done through the home and away season and the finals

Fair point locky. Wedgie based on your criteria the best coach will always be the coach of the team that finishes minor premiers. I don't think this is a foregone conclusion - maybe a coach that takes a side from low to top 3 say is better or as locky points out someone like Laird who is prepared to risk minor round losses in order to peak first week in October.

How do you work that out? Its the coaches that choose him, not me.![]()
If next year someone took Central to Minor Premiers and some new coach took South to 2nd who only miss out on the minor premiership by % then its a no brainer that the South coach gets it. (IMHO)

Wedgie wrote:Whilst agreeing that Laird is by far and away the best coach going around for years, the Advertiser Team of the Year is judged on Minor Round Performances. If all 22 (don't get me started on that number) players are judged on their minor round performance why shouldn't the coach?
If you're going to take into account the finals you might as well as just have the Central District Footy Club, we all know that!
This award is so us fans of lower teams can get some small bit of enjoyment from seeing our players selected, let us at least have that Dogs fans!
