5 years may be a tad soon but the kids got talent without doubt,

Have heard of bookies over in the UK that take bets like that, wonder what odds you would get right now for Trengove to win a brownlow in his career.

From memory Chris Kirklands old man laid a bet with a bookie when his son was born that he would one day play for England at some stupid odds (10,000/1 or something) that duly saluted

yeah he certainly did, and IIRC the odds were even more ridiculous than that.

Trengove is so far ahead of Gibbs at the same stage it's not funny. Gibbs was and is a good player but Trengove is and will be something very very special.

Wow, that's a big call. Haven't seen enough of Trengove, but Gibbs was outstanding at SANFL level at the same stage.

Quite simply an astonishing comment...

Obviously didnt see Gibbs get 36 possies and 6 goals from the wing against Port 4 years ago

I saw plenty of Gibbs and he wasn't in the same league as Trengove IMHO. Each to their own though. Gibbs, as i said, is a good player but nothing overly special in comparison to his peers in the AFL. Trengove will be something very special.

Can anyone answer this for me: Whereabouts in S.A. did he and his family come from exactly (either currently or in the past)???

I ask this as my family from 1880's to 1940's lived in the town of Bute on the Northern Yorke Peninsula and back then there were a number of Trengove's living there (if it's the case i've got photos and info on his ancestors)

Gibbs still is a youngster by AFL standards and his zenith is still a few years out.

Irrelevant who is better as an 18 yr old.
If you feel inclined to judge them, you will have a good handle on it in 5 years time when they should both be at the top of their game at the same time.

I didn't see a lot of Gibbs for Glenelg, but have watched him these last 2 years at Carlton. He and Trengove, display the same poise and execute sound decision making whilst under pressure.

Gibbs is destined to be in the same league as Ablett and Judd in a few years.
But young Trenners will not be far behind.

This kid will be big. Has the full package of skills and smarts.
I just hope he goes to a club that will allow that development.

Up until the age of 14 Trengove was living in Glenelg's country zone (Naracoorte). Another 12 months and he'd be a Bays player. Ahh well at least Sturt are benefitting from the junior country development squads we run.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Trengove's decision making and execution is uncanny for a player of his age and inexperience. He very rarely burns the ball...

Hopefully he can depart the SFC with a league Premiership medallion around his neck...

It must be pretty cool being at school and when your mates are thinking about becoming accountants, engineers, etc, you know that you'll be making mega $$$ as a professional AFL footballer...

And of course he'd be playing A4's right now if it were not for the Glenelg coaching he received.

Mate we can both cut to the chase, for the guns, Cooney, Gibbs, Trengove, Mackie, Hurn, Ebert etc SANFL clubs are getting money for jam - the most significant development occured roughly 17-18 years earlier....

The only thing we do is lend them a guernsey to wear for about 40 matches as a teenager (for some it is less than that....)
