Yep these players have all played throughout the finals in the B grade, which was fine when the A Grade were also in. Apparently they all required permits when the A Grade were knocked out, which looks like nobody was aware of. Was anybody aware of this rule? Pretty stupid rule but I guess rules are rules.

Yep, well aware of this rule, as everyone else in the hills are. I cannot believe that two years in a row Mt Lofty can make an error like this.

I wonder how long it will take for someone to blame Ironbank for this

Perhaps I could have worded that better, my apologies to anyone who thought I was speaking for them.

But if they didn't know the rules this year they must have their head in the sand, especially considering last years situation.

It is a pretty simple rule really and all officials at clubs should understand it. When both teams are playing players can shift between grades at any time. If the A Grade are knocked out players in the Bs have to have played more B grade games than A grade games unless a permit is sought due to injury or work commitments etc and is granted by the HFL.

Simple as that!!

well that is un under statement. every team knows this plan but no one has been able to stop them yet. and i cant see uraidla being able to either. who plays on these forwards from the uri backs? because blackwood still have some handy rotating midfeilders down there that have to be watched also.

as The King once said,
"It's a lot easier to punch the ball then to mark it".

I'm not aware enough of the Uraidla backline to know for sure, but sacrifice a defender who sticks with Gigney while he tries to slut off the packs, and put Loffler on Roach and you'll be gravy.

the rules are very interesting. I can not see why a player who has qualified for B grade finals by playing x number of games in the B grade and then has played ALL their finals in B grade and NONE in A grade (ie Fleet, Broadbridge and Stapleton) needs a permit to continue playing B grade finals if the A grade is knocked out? This makes absolutely no sense at all.

Have to agree with you lovin. Even after they changed it it still doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Fair enough, I'm not saying its a good outcome for anyone......but I still don't see how you can have a go at the league for enforcing a rule that has been in place since the start of the season or more likely a number of seasons.......especially after last year.

I think you've misunderstood that bit (or I have).......as they had played more A grade than B grade they hadn't qualified for B grade finals

This is it exactly.....As I understand i they had not qualified for the B grade finals by playing more games in the Bs then the As throughout the year. Thus when the As were knocked out they needed a permit.

Here's a tip for Lofty coaching staff: http://www.4eb.net/hfl/L4GamesTYr.asp

Select Mt Lofty and search through the players list to see who's played more A grade games than Bs. Fleet, Broadbridge and Stapleton clearly all played more A grade games. Next, get a permit if the As are out...

Now that we all know this it will never happen again to any club.......?

Yes we understand that we got it wrong but what I still don't understand is that the HFL knew these players had to get a permit on the Friday and did not notify us.
