1. Umpires need to be protected and shown more respect, I agree with all the letters in the local paper today about coaches using the comments to bag umpires. Without umpires we wouldnt have a game. Take the good with the bad. My wife plays netball and was disgusted at the boston netball club's coaches comments last week and I read today that the boston president and vice president want nothing to do with the stupid comments. Leave umpires alone.
2. The mail medal so called 'leak' is total bullshit, the winner was always going to come from waybacks or mallee park purely for the amount of games they won during the season. Someone has had a 50/50 stab that it was from waybacks and they got it correct and spread the rumour.
Congratulations to Keatley for winning the medal
1. agree that umpires do need to be respected more. but also i think the netball game between the 2 top teams should of had the 2 top umpires or at the very least 1 of them. In any game footy, netty ect if the umps cant keep up with the play its just not good enough. If it takes a public comment to make a point and lift the standard of a game of A grade sport than it should be done.
2. agree
Can we put this netball drama to rest.
SANA rules state that no umpire with an affiliation with a club can umpire that club. In other words they must be neutral. The "best" did have an affiliation with a particular club so therefore could not umpire them. Hence the next best were allotted. End of story. Imagine the outcry if an umpire was umpiring a game in which her club was playing and she was the president or secretary of that club or had a daughter playing. It would be open slather for calls of bias, cheating etc. Should not happen and doesn't. All rules were followed.
The local association gets Adelaide umpires over for certain finals games, which does not include that particular game. A local rule which was also followed.
